How was your weekend? Overall it was a busy but really good weekend for us. My son and daughter had different birthday parties to go to, this uber-mom was busy. My son scored a soccer goal and my daughter had her Halloween 4th and 5th grade dance. And guess what she won the costume contest and received a gift card. She was so proud and I was glad that my clown worries were for nothing. It turns out that her costume is more Harlequin (click HERE) than clown and there were actually several really scary clowns at the dance and a lot of parents were surprised that it was allowed. I’m glad that they allowed it though and didn’t feed into all the crazy clown nonsense.
I want to share some recent changes I have made to our bedroom. I actually mentioned it briefly in my favorites post on Friday (click HERE if you missed it). All the photos are actually taken when the sun go down in the evening and I love that light in our bedroom. Let me show you.
The beautiful new brush stroke gingham pillow is from my talented friend Jennifer Stagg who recently launched her own textile and accessory line and shop (click HERE to see). It’s perfect for my bed don’t you think so?
The artwork layered all the way in the back is mine. I painted that years and years ago for our bedroom. Then I decided to sell it and made the discovery that Craigslist is never a good place to sell your own original art. It can hurt your feelings when people try to penny pinch your own art. So I decided to keep it and now I’m glad I did.
The ocean scene belonged to one of my grandmother’s best friends and it’s great that I still have it. It’s a bonus that it reminds me of my favorite place in the world – Avalon, even though it’s a scene of a beach in Germany.
While I could have used one of my own black and white paintings (click HERE to see my latest), I decided to use the Ikea piece I found last week and which I mentioned on Friday (click HERE). I just really like it and it ads the contrast I like.
My son made me the little piece on the marbled box (remember that box inspired my curtains, click HERE to see) in art class and I love it.
Lets not forget about the dotted fabric/sheet, it’s also from Ikea and fits right in.
I’m also really obsessed with THESE pom-pom throws in Jennifers shop. There are several colors and they are all so pretty. But she has more and even more to come. You should check it out by clicking HERE.
Small changes go a long way and I really love them.
