Folk Art-Inspired DIY Easter Bunny Ornaments
These folk art-inspired Easter bunny ornaments started with a happy accident. I had supplies left over from my embossed tin ornaments craft project and wanted to create something special for spring and Easter. I designed three original bunny templates with folk art patterns that I’m sharing with you so you can make your own Easter bunny ornaments.

Materials for these easter bunny ornaments
- metal sheets or crafting (tin, copper, brass, aluminum, or a set of 3 metal sheets)
- dotting tools, or similar items, like an old inkless pen
- scissors
- silicone baking mat, or I use a squishy shelf liner from the dollar store
- ribbon or string
I bought these K&S 0.005 inch brass sheets locally at an ACE Hardware for my other tutorial and those are what I had leftover.

As I mentioned earlier, I designed three folk art-inspired bunny templates for you to download for free. If you enlarge the templates below, they might be a little blurry, but that is ok for tracing. On a Mac, control-click on the image to save it to your device for printing. On a PC, right-click the image and select ‘Save image as’.

Tips for cutting bunny shapes from metal
- There are other websites offering bunny templates. Just make sure that the bunny outline is simplified and rounded to make it easier to cut out and avoid sharp edges. For example, a bunny holding a carrot would be too intricate for this technique.
- Use a metal file to dull any sharp edges or points. This applies especially to the tips of the bunny ears since they will be sharp after cutting. So be extra cautions to file those down very well.
- Depending on the thickness of your metal, you might need handheld snips for thicker sheets. I was able to easily use strong scissors.

These bunny ornaments will be hanging on my lit branches in the living room. These are the same branches I have been transitioning from fall to Christmas, then transitioning from Christmas to winter decor, and now to spring. I got so much use out of them over the last few months! The paper moths, paper leaves, and corn husk bats all looked great on them, too.

I can’t show a full view yet because I need to make more bunnies first!

I used the same dotting tools used in this Easter bunny craft to add Ukrainian Pysanky egg designs to some wooden Easter eggs, which turned out lovely as well, and are so fun to make.
