Personal ramblings and things I’ve bought lately
One thing I wanted to do for my blog this year is to write some more personal posts here and there that don’t have Google and finished projects in mind. I want it to be random and just about things that I like, inspire me, or have happened lately. So here I go…
I used to have a series called Friday Favorites where I shared things that I came across in stores that I loved. One of the reasons I stopped is because I spent too much money on things that I didn’t really need. I’ve actually tried to really stay away from stores like Target and HomeGoods since before Christmas. I was successful in that mission until my birthday just rolled around. I can’t stop shopping altogether!
I also don’t want to continuously push products on my blog but when I find things that I really love and also order then I also want to share those things and hope others will love them too.
I have thought about replacing the lovely black and white pouf ottoman in my living room just because I’m so sick of the deflated shape. I’ve stuffed it so many times already. While I was looking for a possible replacement I came across a bunch of stools/poufs and tables that I just adore. I bought one of the below pieces to put in its place and can’t wait until it arrives. Can you guess which one?
from top left to right: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6
I do wish I had room for all the pieces. That little burlwood table is amazing. I saw the ceramic black and white drum table when we were just at the King of Prussia Mall and it’s even better in person.
I bought the 3rd cream faux leather pouf. I would have loved the fabric one that looks so similar but I know that fabric wouldn’t be good with all the cat claws in the house plus it’s a lot more expensive.
other things I found…

I’m absolutely in love with the below flower pots. Unfortunately, only the small one is currently available the rest are out of stock but I signed up for email alerts for when the bigger ones are back.
Believe it or not, I don’t have any rattan flowerpots yet but have wanted one for a long time. So I bought the below cutie. It’s so unique! (Find it HERE)
I also just bought this striped midi dress with pockets. I’m 5’3″ and XS is perfect for me. I’m so ready for spring weather.
I love it the way it is but am considering buying a second one in a different color that I can get altered. I think it would look so cute as a knee-length and short-sleeved version too.
My husband bought me an Apple Watch for Christmas and I really wanted a different watch band. I had my eye on faux tortoiseshell bands and bought one from Machete jewelry. It is beautiful but was a bit pricey. While browsing Amazon, I stumbled upon one that looked the same so I ordered it as well just because I was nosey and wanted to compare. Guess what? It’s the exact same piece for much cheaper. I gifted it to my sister-in-law since I couldn’t return the one I already had. (Find the cheaper one HERE)
What I’ve been working on:
I’m working at my seasonal job at the ski resort again this winter and only have a limited amount of time to work on projects or blog maintenance. I’ve been trying to clean up the blog behind the scenes with Google in mind and it’s so boring. I did however start a pendant light project because I want to replace my urchin dining room light. I’m sick of it poking me in the forehead all the time.
So I soldered a lampshade cage and wrapped it with jute yarn with this pendant HERE in mind. Right before I was done, I went grocery shopping and my husband informed me that Willy jumped inside it, got caught and the entire thing fell off the counter. The top part collapsed and now I have to start from scratch. I’m so so annoyed!
I feel like I’ve been messing up more often. Another major “oops”-moment was when I gave my husband a haircut. You see, I’ve been cutting my husband’s and son’s hair since Covid hit. And so far I’ve always done a good job. This time around not so much and we got in a huge fight. Yikes.
I was talking to him and almost done and not paying as much attention as I should have. I thought the clipper length I was using was still on the clippers but nope. Buzzzzz and oops, he has a new diamond shape on the side of his head. What would your spouse do if you cut this into the side of his head? LOL
Thankfully this happened on a Saturday morning and a barber was able to fix it up nicely.
My husband isn’t new to bad shapes cut into the side of his head. Do you remember his high school photo? I’ve shared it here before and it’s now a staple on Google when you search for bad 80’s haircuts. Check out this post HERE, it’s pretty funny and he’s in there.
I hope this gave you a chuckle. And in case you are wondering, he laughs about it too.
I hope I’m done with mishaps for a bit now.
Wouldn’t you love to know who the other non celebrity hair style people are? I got a good laugh from those pictures.
Yup Sarah, I sure would LOL. I love the description under my husband’s photo. As if he didn’t think it was enough…
I can’t wait to see your lampshade idea when you repair/fix it. As far as the haircut goes, just shave his entire head. It grows back fast anyway.
Hi Maureen, the barber did a great job thankfully and he’s back to looking normal again 😉 Hopefully, the lampshade won’t take too long. It’s a mess!
Loved all the thing’s you picked and shared.
If you have whoops again giving a haircut just put some shoe polish on the whoops!
LOL shoe polish. I never heard that before 😉
This post was everything! I laughed and also got some good ideas:). Also, your husband is cute regardless of his haircut! Thanks for sharing, I always enjoy seeing your sweet kitties and your beautiful home:).
Oh, he’ll love hearing that and I agree. Glad I could make you laugh. Have a great weekend.
Cracking up at Jared’s hair! My husband would kill me, but I don’t cut his hair. 😉 Love all of your finds and I guessed the boucle with the leather second. I was close. 😉 LOVE that dress, too! Oh and how do you like the Apple Watch and what do you use it for? I have been considering getting one more to track my heart rate and fitness than anything else. I could do a fitbit but I also feel like I have apple everything else so??? But then it might annoy me when I don’t want to look at my phone and it buzzes.
Honestly, he was close to killing me. He told me I did it on purpose to make him look like a jerk. He punched a hole into the door with his forehead. Yup you heard that right. I told him that if he ever wakes up like that in the morning then I did it on purpose. LOL And I never really wanted an Apple Watch because I didn’t like my fitbit at all. But now that I have it, I love it. I mostly use it for tracking exercise and walking miles and it’s much better than the fitbit.
Omg too funny, I messed up my Dads hair ine time not quite that bad just too close above his ear like Whitewall on a tire lol. He didnt say anything to me but I knew he was mad, my mom heard about it, oh well it grew in in a week, oops us right!! Thanjs for sharing
LOL, that’s nice of your dad not to say anything to you 😉 My husband’s hair is already back to normal. Thankfully!
