Kids Artwork Wall
How was your weekend? I hope as good as mine. I spent some great time with awesome friends who came to visit us for some skiing. They couldn’t have ordered better weather. Check this out:
I know spring is right around the corner and most of you guys can’t wait to see some warmer weather but this was the perfect end to a great winter.
Today I want to share some small changes in Lilly’s room.
One of the things I got on my last Ikea trip was a DIGNITET curtain rod.
Ikea DIGNITET |
She has been asking for an art wall in her room since she loves to color and paint. I thought it was the perfect solution to display all her colorful pieces of art. I love looking at all the proof of her imagination. She told me that she wanted to be an artist when she grew up. I wonder where she gets that one from, haha.
Another thing that I’m now really sure of is that she is NOT a hoarder. She is so quick to get rid of things in her room to make space for new things. Or maybe that is just a part of growing up! I hope so.
“No mom, I don’t need that anymore”…”NOOO mom I really don’t want that anymore”…she does it with toys and decor. I think she is ready for a complete room overhaul soon.
That said, she told me that she didn’t want the Hello Kitty pictures that she was previously so obsessed with anymore (I was so glad by the way since they aren’t my style at all). I worked really hard to make them but I’m proud of her for moving on. I will put them for sale on Ebay.
So I hung the DIGNITET on that large wall for her. It was pretty easy to install as well.
Update: This is what the room looks like now and you can see more photos in another blog post.
Seeing all her great artwork and how happy she is to display it in her room makes me want to paint the walls white or a very light shade to make them stand out better.
So many things I’d like to change again. Let’s see.
I’m working really hard today and tomorrow to get some things done.
Talk to you on Wednesday und guten Tag.
I wish I had an Ikea close by! This is going on the list for our next Ikea haul. LOVE IT! xo Kristin
Thanks Kristin. Mine isn’t that close either. I have to drive for 45 minutes 😉 but it’s not bad.
we had that in our last house for the kids art and i LOVED it! but here, we didn’t have the right place for it. i tried it in the hallway but every time we walked through things moved… i love it on her wall with the stripes- looks awesome!!!
Thank you Cassie!
OMGolly She does beautiful pieces…..Yes let her create something for your living room! Fabulous!
I will and thanks Patty
I love all her artwork and the way you displayed it! My sister used the same system from IKEA to hang her sons pieces. I want to do something similar when my daughter learns how to actually use crayons instead of just eating them 😉
Aww, I remember those days. LOL
I would have never thought to use that rod in this way. I have one in my closet that was used as a room divider when I had a studio. I may have to dig that baby out.
Dig it out, Kristen 😉
Again, great idea! You treasure trove of inspiration! Can I copy? 🙂
Sure you can!
Love the IKEA Skarum rainbow pillows they are bright and fun! IKEA always has great accessories for kids spaces. Her artwork and the way you displayed it looks beautiful in her room! 🙂
Thanks Ingrid and yes they do make great stuff for kids.
Love it, Love it, Love it! I have a friend who also used 3 levels of the Dignitet in her girl’s bathroom. She hung all of their hair ribbons and clips on it in rainbow order! So much fun!!
