My New Handmade Macrame Piece
First of all, I want to mention Tuesday’s cat cage post. I set my blog posts up with a new email provider and my post just didn’t send so I had to email you all to send it to you. I’m currently trying to split my readers up into groups so you can choose what types of posts you want to get. I especially want to divide people who only want to get cat posts and people who don’t want to get cat posts to not annoy anyone. So if you are one of those friends who want to do either or, then you can do so by unsubscribing and re-subscribing. You also get some art freebies from me. Before subscribers only received one freebie and now I have several more. Even cat quote printables. Subscribe again by either clicking the top subscribe bar above for abstract art or through the cat post’s bar HERE for the cat printables.
Setting these types of things up is super frustrating for this technically challenged girl and I had to hire someone to do it. And then sending my post out still didn’t work. Go figure. I hope to have it all sorted out soon though.
Today I want to address the fact that I finally made my first big handmade macrame piece. I had made a tiny one which you may have seen already in my recent bedroom post. Click HERE to see the post and the newly updated version.
And now I finally made a large piece of macrame. I won’t have a tutorial and the reason for that is that there are so many great video tutorials on YouTube. My favorite is Macrame School (click HERE). They have such easy step-by-step tutorials and it would be a waste of time for me to make another tutorial. It was really fun to just make something without photographing and writing about it for once.
I’ve been wanting to make a piece for a while now. Macrame makes me think of my childhood since I was born in the 70s and I also loved making friendship bracelets as a kid. Macrame is basically like making a huge version of a friendship bracelet.
I love this tutorial HERE and when you look at it, then you can definitely tell that it inspired my piece. You can also learn the basic macrame knots in this video HERE.

Here is my creation hanging in our living room. Oh and don’t you love the flower pot I recently found at HomeGoods?

I bought my macrame rope on Amazon HERE and needed three rolls for the above piece. It took me about 2 days to make. This doesn’t make it a cheap or fast project but it sure was fun because I enjoy this type of crafting. Just check out the pieces I linked to at the end of the post. They are quite affordable compared to the cost of the rope and time invested.
My small handmade macrame piece
Like I said, this little piece is currently hanging in our bedroom. Click HERE to see the rest.
The big macrame piece will most likely hang in our kitchen hallway though (sorry for the bad cellphone photo), since the wall was empty after removing the pinecone art canvas after Christmas. Click HERE to see that easy tutorial.
And as always if you aren’t into making things yourself and rather purchase something, I have some pieces to show you. Â Or even if you just like to browse for inspiration for your own next piece, then check out the following macrame pieces that I’ve found and love. They are pretty easy to make and affordable.

There also beautiful handmade macrame pieces for sale on Etsy (click HERE) but they are not affordable anymore. They are definitely beautiful and you can get some major inspiration from them as well.
Here are my three favorite unique Etsy handmade macrame creations:

And I’m completely intrigued with the below knots. I think I already have it figured out the way they were made and might try it. I just ordered more yarn.

So are you someone who’d try to make your own or do you rather shop. Or do you dislike macrame? I’m glad I gave it a try and I have a feeling that it won’t be my last piece.
