  1. Beautiful combination of gray, cream and gold. Congratulations Julia! PS. Armchair is great!

    1. Thank you Cassie and I love the pillow too. One of my most favorite things that I brought from Germany.

  2. I am so happy for you to have found such a great looking, comfy chair. I have to ask what you paid for it. And I have to say the only ones I liked from your pictured choices that I liked were just too expensive or so I thought.

    1. Hi Sheryll and thanks. I paid $279 for it. I know some of them were way to expensive. I ended up with the cheapest one.

I think the chair is great. Question, I think you’re tall? My family is tall and I’m wondering if the chair seats a little too low? We don’t live near an Ikea but they have one where we visit often (Portland, OR)…this might be an option for us, too. Love the color and I think the legs look great next to your sofa…kinda, sorta mid-century.

    1. Hi Kimberly, I’m not tall at all, but my husband is pretty tall and he sits in it very comfortably. Yes, the legs look kind of mid-century and my sofa does too. In the photo it bugs me a little that the legs of sofa and chair are a different color but not when you see them in person. They had it in blue too.

  5. Hi Caitlin and yes I did see the blue version and sat in it 😉 It’s actually a softer fabric than the grey. Really pretty.

Gorgeous! I was at IKEA over the weekend too but they didn’t have the chair out for sale yet 🙁 Did you see the navy version? Was it pretty?

Where did you get the rug? My walls appear to be the same color grey and I also have a cream sofa (will soon purchase the IKEA chair) the rug I have now is karastan mystical (zebra) but I think the grey/cream rug is better suited for the decor. Great design, Julia!

    1. Thank you!
This rug is from Overstock. It’s the Poolside Grey/Bone Indoor Outdoor rug. I’m really happy with it because it is so easy to clean.

  8. I love how the chair looks! I found your site because I’m considering buying the same one, and was trying to see how it has held up. I know it’s only been 6 months, but how is your chair now? Grateful for any input!

    1. Hi Anna!
Nice to meet you and I have to tell you that I still love the chair and it is holding up great.
We fight over who gets to sit in the chair 😉
      Hope that helps a little.

    2. Thanks, Julia, and nice to meet you, too! Good to hear that you continue to be happy to be chair. I’m off to IKEA Charlotte to buy it later in the week…

  9. Hi Julia! I was looking into the same chair and found your blog by searching for reviews of it. It looks fabulous (and much more expensive) in your space. I am contemplating buying it to replace an uncomfortable wooden rocking chair for nursing a baby and reading to a toddler. Does it feel roomy enough to snuggle (with a small child)? Is the cushion still comfy?? Thanks so much for any feedback you can give!

    1. Hi Sara, nice to meet you! I still love it A LOT. My son calls it the blogging chair because that’s where I always sit to write my posts. I don’t think it could get any better. Since you mention nursing a baby and reading to your kiddos, check out what my friend Kenz did with her Strandmon chair: http://interiorsbykenz.com/ikea-hack-strandmon-rocker-diy-wingback-rocking-chair/ it’s such a cool hack and just shows how you could use it in a nursery.
      Hope that helps.

  10. Thanks for your quick and helpful response, Julia!

  11. Hi Julia, your room is so beautiful! Everything looks so wonderful together. Where did you get your curtains? They are amazing.

    Thanks 🙂

LOVE this! My husband & I currently purchased an off white sofa & gray recliner & your wall color is perfect! May I ask what color it is & by who? Thank you!

  13. Hi Julia,
How has the fabric held up the Strandmon chair? I am worried my cat will snag the fabric.

    1. There were a couple of snags but it held up surprisingly well.
