The big FIVE 0!
Well, the start of 2025 has been a blur, and not in a good way. My anxiety is at an all-time high and I’m sure I don’t have to explain why.
I thought I’d just pop in today to show that I am still here. I’m turning the big FIVE O today. Do I feel fifty? The good news is NOPE, I don’t, unless I look in the mirror in the morning or unless I try to participate in certain workouts LOL.
Skiing has been great this winter so far and we have been taking advantage of that, especially my husband who goes several times a week. Once a week is enough for me since I still work up there twice a week too and all I want is to go home after I’m done.

I’m not having a party. All I wanted was to go away for my birthday with my family. We are going to the Dominican Republic a little bit later when the kids have time. It is booked! We have never gone to an all-inclusive resort because all we ever did was go home to Germany. It will be a completely new experience for us all and I’m looking forward to that because I have a feeling it will be the last time we ever have this type of vacation together just the 4 of us. Our son is graduating from college and our daughter is graduating from high school and heading to college.

I am the type of person who gets stressed out and anxious about planning a party or get-together, and I’m not even sure why, but it’s definitely not my thing. I would never be a party planner. I’m lucky to have friends meeting me out for happy hour though where I didn’t have to plan anything.
Another new mirror

I’ve been on a new mirror kick and purchased another new mirror for the other side of the living room above the fireplace. The star burst I had there before didn’t refect any light and having another mirror here solves that problem.

I ended up hanging the same starburst over that mirror for now.

As a reminder, the other new mirror on the opposite side of the living room.

The Kitties
And have to share some kitty photos too. Just look at our chunky monkey Frank!

What I am working on…
I made some more artwork a while ago and never got around to sharing that. Hopefully, I’ll have a blog post next week.

Tschüß,

Happy Birthday! It is also our oldest daughter’s birthday and she has you beat by 5 years and still teaches many exercise classes at a local university so live it up!
Thanks so much and happy birthday to your daughter as well!
Happy upcoming Birthday, Julia! You’re a beautiful and vibrant lady- you make 50 look fabulous!
Thank you so much!
Happy Birthday:) Hope your day was grand
Thank you Debby, it was and continuing to celebrate tonight 😉
Happy birthday to you! I’m in my later 50’s and have to say I’ve changed a lot during this era. I really don’t care what people think of me anymore which is pretty freeing. Enjoy your trip!
Hi Mary and thanks! Yes, I care less and less about what people think, for sure.
Happy Birthday Julia :-). I hope you have had a wonderful day so far where you could just have fun and not think of what is happening in our country. Enjoy your trip. All-inclusive can be a lot of fun, especially if you have a lot of options of resort restaurants to go to. XO
Hi Diane, thanks so much. My son questioned why we are going to an all-inclusive resort. He wants to travel and experience the country’s culture, and I told him that I told him that I want to experience being served for once 😉 It’s a daily struggle to not think about what is happening! Have a great weekend.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you Tanya!
Big hugs. I feel everything you’re saying … hard. Remember, we … the cat lovers, the macrame lovers, the decency lovers … are all doing this together. You are not alone.
Thank you, Bethany, and hugs to you too. It all feels so heavy 🙁
?
Happy Birthday! Wishing you the best.
Thank you so much, Betty!
Happy Belated Birthday! I’m 63 and I feel like I have so much to look forward to. 50 is a wonderful age. I look at a lot of home/garden blogs since I’m renovating a house and creating a garden from pretty much nothing in my forever home in Florida. I have to compliment you – I love your garden, and it’s an inspiration! About flying anxiety: I find that deep breathing/relaxation exercises really do help. Start immediately, practice constantly so it’s automatic while you’re packing, going to airport, waiting in airport … I‘ve traveled all over the world and I’ve recently developed an irrational fear of travel in general, especially if I need to go away from my dogs and cats. Breathing exercises have really helped me. Bon voyage!
Thank you, Amy! Yes, having to go away from my cats creates extra anxiety. I hate leaving them so much! And thanks so much for the compliments about our garden, I so appreciate it.
Happy belated birthday!!
May God bless and keep you, and I pray you feel his peace in your heart.

I’m really late to wish you a happy birthday, but I just haven’t been checking blogs lately so please accept my late birthday wishes. You make 50 look great! Hope you had a wonderful time celebrating and were able to escape reality for a bit. It is an exhausting and worrying time, I know. I feel it from overseas.
Thank you Alison! I am a worried mess these days
