My first blog home tour
This is one of my first blog home tours posted in 2013. I started my blog in 2012. I almost deleted this old post but then thought differently because it’s so nice to see how much my blog, taste, and home have evolved since then.
I shouldn’t be embarrassed by it. I should embrace it.
Outside
It’s the typical Pennsylvania standard tiny home. And the outside has to stay this way but I actually have been thinking about breaking the rules to see what would happen. How about a mint green door? Or something brighter? Ha, let’s see!
Our patio and rock garden is in full bloom right now and it’s one of my favorite spots on our tiny property.
Are you wondering what that strange thing is on the fence?
And the kitties are enjoying their outdoor catio:
Yes, don’t say it…I know I’m crazy! But I don’t care 😉

It’s so hard to put yourself out there and show it all because I never feel like anything is done.
It’s an illness I think! I love our home though even if I see the unfinished projects.
Powder Room
With sharpie walls and DIY vinyl polka dots. Do I even need to say tight budget?
Living Room
Our Bedroom
Our Son’s Bedroom
Our Daughter’s Room
Her room is on the top of my makeover list and I think she is finally on board and ready to move on.
So coming fall, when we are stuck inside more again we will work on it.
I’m thinking different colors, a larger headboard… I can’t wait! Stuff like that really gets me excited!
My daughter and my son both dropped the camera, so the pictures are pretty blurry. Sorry!
Our Hallway
So this is it! If you are interested in seeing all the projects, then please click HERE to see my “projects page” and I’m sure you’ll be able to find what you are looking for.
If not, just write me an email, ok? Don’t be shy, I love hearing from you!
Thanks for stopping by.
Tschüß,
WOW! SO many fun things in your house…beautiful!

Thanks Sonya!
Thank Kristin, I’m trying to get better at the photo thing but my kids dropping the camera all the time sure doesn’t help.
I’d never tire of seeing your GORGEOUS home, Julia!!! Cute little model you share it with! 🙂
LOL, thanks. She wanted to be in the photos so badly!
I’ve never seen the front of your house, or the entirety of your backyard. I’m so jealous of your backyard!! SO gorgeous, you did a fantastic job. My backyard desperately needs your help lol
Awww, thanks Sara!
Love your home! It’s nice to see a fellow Pennsylvanian here in bloggy land. 🙂
Thanks Sarah. There aren’t too many Pennsylvanian’s in blogland, are there?
That’s what I’ve always thought too. Everybody lives in Texas or the midwest. 🙂
Yup, lots of Utah and Cali action in blogland
Or like you said Texas
Wow! I guarantee you, I never once thought “tight budget” when looking at your gorgeous pictures! And the awesome way you carried the deer through little details…it’s a very happy house! 🙂
Thank you so much Gillian. And that’s what I want it to be. A happy house. I love adding silly things to the home that a lot of people don’t like 😉 but I’m so happy when someone gets it 😉
You can share pictures of your house as many times as you would like Julia! I love how you have placed everything and your décor! 🙂 & yes, I’ve been following the home tours all week! it’s like opening a magazine! 🙂 Hope you will have a great weekend!
Thanks Ingrid and I think it’s even better than opening a magazine because it’s more personal, right?
Nice job capturing your home in photos. It’s beautiful! Yours is actually one of the favorites I have seen. True story.

Thank you Gina for coming over to check it out yourself. It means so much to me.
Your house is so beautiful and creative. There are just so many good things that I can’t pick just a few. Beautiful! I’m in PA also. I wonder if we’re close? 🙂
Oh thanks so much Kimberly the fellow Pennsylvanian. I wonder too 😉
You have the most cheerful house 🙂

Julia, I can honestly say that your house is one of my all time favourites. It is so fresh and modern, and with your amazing talent you manage to integrate thrifty finds and DIYs with such ease.
Thanks Kelly, you always have the sweetest things to say!

I will never ever tire of home tours and I have to say your pics are amazing!!! They look professional, Julia!!!! And of course, your home is AMAZING….I was really checking out how you created two separate sitting areas in your living room. I love that! 😉 Jesse @ Scout & Nimble
Thanks Jesse!

I LOVE all the details in your home, but especially your son’s bedside table. LOVE!!!
Thanks Amy his end table is one of my favorites too.

Have a wonderful weekend!
There is no such thing as too many house tours! Especially if it’s of a house as AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG as yours! You have fantastic style!
Thanks Gabbi, it means so much to me 😉
You are so creative and everything is gorgeous! I have to say the catio is something I’ve never seen but so clever!! Our cat isn’t allowed outside but she would sure love that and she’d be safe. Love all the colors you’ve incorporated. The big white cuckoo clock is great!
Hi Stacey and I’m sure your kitty would love it too.
You’re home is so beautiful Julia. Love all the wonderful personal touches you’ve added. And though I’m not a cat person, I think your catio is genius! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Thanks so much and you know what? My cats have converted quite a couple non-cat lovers to like them now because they are awesome. LOL!
You should never be afraid to put it out there…your home is absolutely gorgeous and you have such an incredible eye and taste. I love your mix of modern and classic, just beautiful!!!!!
Hi Christina, thanks so much for still reading along and for your sweet comments.
I love your style, Julia! You know how to combine patterns and accessories beautifully. And I’m digging the stag perched on your fridge. I wish we were neighbors so my kitty could come over for play dates in the catio. Me too, of course. (Although, I don’t think I would fit too well in the catio, myself.)
Have a wonderful weekend!
The stag was from an auction and I love him. I named him Karl.
I wish we were neighbor’s too and you could tell me about werewolves over glass of wine LOL but I don’t think my cats welcome any playdates. That’s when the claws come out.
wow, your home is so fun! I can’t get enough of home tours, hopefully soon I’ll get the rest of my loft situated to finally be able to participate in tours like these. I love your style too! You have an eye for gold, like me 🙂 xoxo
Thanks Brittany. Yes we have a shared gold obsession 😉 And I sure can’t wait to see the rest of your loft!
Love your home and I’m still so jealous of your back yard!
Haha, thanks and happy anniversary!

I love all the playful elements of your home! It’s great not to take ourselves too seriously : ] And I think the cat fence is brilliant—not crazy!

Such a beautiful home. Love the light over the sink and all the brass touches!
Thank you so much for coming over, Laura!
I’ve never noticed the plates hanging on the wall in the kitchen. Love those! Love your whole house. =)

I love your home! It’s so beautiful, and with just the right amount of whimsy!
Thanks Brynne!
I love your home and just stumbled upon your blog today. I looked through your other home tour and couldn’t find what paint colors you used. Could you point me in the right direction? (I am specifically looking at the gray you used in the kitchen/living room/master.) Any help you could give would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi, in my living room is: Seashell Gray 4003-1A by Valspar and in my dining room, kitchen and bedroom: Rocky Bluffs 4003-1C by Valspar. Hope that helps.
What a fun house tour! You really have a great eye. Everything looks so pulled together. I always struggle with pulling it all together. I love how some of the pieces just make the whole room look expensive like that little marble top table and your coffee table.
Thank you so much Emily!
You have made a breathtaking home for you and your family. I hope to peruse your blog regularly to get inspiration for the design phase of our apartment remodel. Thank you for sharing your talents!
That’s so nice of you Yvonne! Thanks so much.
your house is beautiful, but what really does it for me is your ‘catio’ ~ Fabulous! I love that you care enough about your babies to go to all that trouble so they can enjoy the outdoors safely! great job!
Thanks for the sweet words Tracy! I love my kitties 😉
I just found you at YHL your home is AMAZING!!! So beautiful!
Thank you so much Amanda!
house is beautiful. I really like that mirror over the fireplace
Thanks it’s an old mirror from bombay company that I painted white.
What is the paint color for the accent wall in your living room (the wall with the fireplace)? Thanks so much!
Hi Karen, I’m sorry to tell you that the paint isn’t available anymore. At least at our Home Depot they stopped selling the Ralph Lauren paints. This one is a silver! But if I remember correctly they told me it was discontinued.
What a gorgeous house! Was wondering where you got the pink and black bins in your daughters room? Also do you know by chance what kind of wood floor you have? We want to get our floors done, and I love your color. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much. The pink and black bins were from Ikea. The polka dot bins are from HomeGoods.
Our floor is actually Armstrong laminate in maple.
Where did you get your coffee table?!
Hi Lauren, I found the coffee table at a local thrift store for $25. It was such a great find.
Hi _ Would you be able to share where you purchased these candle sticks from? I have been looking all over and I’ve only heard people getting them at an antique sale 🙁

Hi Alexa, yes mine are from the thriftshop too but you can check out these very very similar vintage ones I found: http://rstyle.me/n/bhzqh24cgn
