Photography for everyone
Today’s post is a little different from what I normally post about. Do you remember when I tried to take profile pictures for my pet post myself and they turned out looking mostly like this?
Running back and forth between the camera or even using a timer is cause for a catastrophe in my house and lets face it, I’m just not that good at taking pictures of myself. But for my blog I get frequently asked to give out a headshot which I maybe produce one once a year if I’m lucky. That’s the reason you don’t see many selfies on my Instagram account either (you should totally be on Instagram by the way if you aren’t already, click HERE to see mine).
So when I scrolled through our local hashtag I found a local photographer, Kathleen of Jules & George Photography and her photos just spoke to me in every way. Now wait a minute before you click away my post right away because you aren’t local to the Lehigh Valley, she also has a society6 shop (click HERE) which she just opened and where you non-local folks can order her photos for artwork. Let me show you some:
I love everything about her photos and I just had to ask her if she would take pictures of me for my blog.
I mean look at her work when she takes photos of people:
I’m so in love with this last first communion photo and there are many more on her website (click HERE to see). The photos of her own children are just so special. I love the way she uses natural light.
And I’m sure I’m not the easiest client because I’m so critical with myself which certainly isn’t a good trait but she got the job done. I’m not going to bore you to death with tons of photos of myself but I’ll show you a couple. You’ll see them show up here and there on the interwebs though. I already used one on my Facebook page.
And in case you are wondering, Kathleen is an experienced natural-light photographer passionate about modern, honest, and joyful imagery. Her work has been featured on the National Association of Professional Child Photographers as well as in homes across New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley. She specializes in maternity, baby, and family photography and she is happy (thrilled!) to try new concepts and ideas all the time. Her style blends documentary style imagery with bright, colorful portraits, which is just what I like.
She is wonderful to hang out with during a session and I totally wish I’d get to see her more often now just to chat 😉 I don’t want to scare her away by sounding like a stalker though 😉

Well, I’d like to give you a compliment anyway. You’re lovely and shouldn’t be so critical of yourself. Also, the photo of you standing next to the owl artwork reminded me that I wanted to thank you for writing about the H&M pillow a while back. I did get it and absolutely love it. And finally, I also asked you about your wonderful cat enclosure. One of these years I will give it a try, sooner than later, I hope. My three cats would love it.

I know exactly what you mean. I love taking pictures of other people but my mom always tells me that I will regret that when I’m really old and that I will love having pictures of myself when I was younger. So once in a while I guess I should get some photos of myself. And thank you
