Modern Fresh Fall (Halloween) Home Tour
I usually don’t post on Sundays but today is special because I’m so thrilled to be included in the “Modern & Fresh Fall” series. Did you see Jesse’s amazing tour yesterday (click HERE). She rocked it! I totally love the way she used her grandmother’s lace veil.
Everyone of the posts has been amazing so far and I was feeling really nervous about posting today.
I’m kind of torn between Halloween and Fall. I have two young kids who just adore Halloween and want to see lots of it. Previously I have stuck to only decorating the outside of our home with Halloween decor but this year since our daughter wanted to have a creepy sleepover party for her 7th birthday I decided to go a little yucky inside as well. All that mattered is that she loved it.
I tried to go with vintage medical items amongst some other things. There is nothing that creeps her out more than doctors, blood and finding out how people used to get treated at the doctor’s office a long long time ago. She is also obsessed with band aids. I constantly find wrappers and band aids everywhere. So I was trying to somewhat keep this modern and fresh. Hah, how fresh can you keep this yucky stuff, right? Here is what her party table looked like. Get ready for lots of pictures 🙂
Believe it or not but there is actually some meaning behind some of these items. I dare to say sentimental…LOL…check back for a post about what the heck I’m talking about 😉
Next week I will talk about all the projects that were involved with this creepy dining room.
That’s not all yet though and I hope you won’t have trouble loading all the photos.
I worked on our living room as well. I’m such a fan of trying to keep it as cheap as possible and there is nothing better than going outside and picking up some greenery. Which I added all over the house. I didn’t want to get rid of my gorgeous orchids, so I just added some fall grasses, branches and leaves to them.

Wow, I love your Halloween decor and the rest of your house as well! So many gorgeous photos!
Beautiful Julia!!
Thank you so much! Have a great Sunday!
OMGosh, Yikes! & Wow……. I love everything. Especially Lalka….. such a special addition that makes the room as far as I am concerned. I used to want a pure white kitty so bad… but now, I realize I can’t afford to feed any more than I have now. FIVE of my own and a little friend that has decided it is safe to rest and eat here and then the 3 canine kids….. well I have to stop somewhere.
Yes, she is a special addition. Nothing like snuggling with her on a cold dreary fall day. She is the boss of the house at 6lbs. Sounds like you have your hands full 😉
Holy cow, Julia!! This is incredible! I’ve got 4 boys here who will be very jealous of the Halloween decor. So creative and creepy 🙂 And the rest of your home looks gorgeous. Can’t believe I’ve got to follow this… thanks a lot!! 🙂
Ha, stop it 😉 and thanks. Can’t wait to see your tour!
OH MY GOSH! Your dining room made me gasp. So awesome and creative. Love every last detail!
Angela @ Number Fifty-Three
Thank you so much Angela.
it looks amazing! i love the spiders on the roses as you know! the funny thing is my house is very “fall” right now, but the dining room is also where i got my creepy on!
Lilly went crazy with the spiders 😉 They are everywhere. I’ve vacuumed up a couple and step into them all the time LOL.
She’s glad that they aren’t real.
Yay to creepy dining rooms!
Holy smokes, Julia!?!? Talk about rocking it…you totally did with that dining room! I absolutely LOVE it! That skull picture is awesome and the black curly centerpieces! High five girl…this is fantastic!
Thanks Jesse, the kids love it and their friends do too. What is it with kids and creepy thing?!?!
Just wait until you hear where this stuff is from. You’ll think I’m totally nuts LOL.
Gorgeous — in a gross, creepy sort of way 🙂 Love it.
😉 Thanks 😉
The whole dining room is deliciously creepy, but I think my favorite part of all is the skull with a spider crawling into the eye socket. Shiver!
That spider is my daughter’s touch. She put it there LOL
You are a serious magic-maker, my friend. Somehow you made gross stuff look beautiful! I lie the dining room and other all touches around the house too. All your floral arrangements look gorgeous. And I love the Chiang Mai pillow on your bed!
Thanks friend.
Add bugs to anything and that will creep me out!!! You completely outdid yourself! And happy birthday to your daughter!!!
My daughter hates bugs that are alive too LOL. And thanks for the birthday wishes!
Beautiful blog! Can you share a few paints colors: paint on the mantel wall; color of the coral mirror and color of the turquoise CL mirror. Thank you.
The color on the mantel was a Ralph Lauren silver sold at Home Depot but they stopped selling it. So upsetting because the colors were awesome. I told them. The metallics they have at Lowes are way to expensive and aren’t as nice.
The coral/orange mirror is Valspar’s Hacienda Tile and the turquoise mirror is Valspar’s Exotic Sea.
Awesome awesome job Julia!! I love your Halloween decor. The bones and skulls are awesome!! your whole tour is gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks my friend
Echt Klasse! Love that your girl is so into Halloween! Your touches of autumn are perfect and I just love those Foo dogs on your mantel (don’t your parents have the same ones?)
Good memory, yes they do but theirs are really vintage and so much better than mine! And thanks so much!
Okay, you are amazing!! I love love love that bloody gallery wall. The blood splatters is so perfect and so Dextery. I can’t wait to see the details on all the projects you did. Your little girl is only lucky lady to have such a creative mama!
Thanks Sarah! It’s funny how much she is into the creepy stuff. She went nuts with the spiders everywhere. I vacuumed tons already, keep stepping on the and she put them on everything 😉 But she’s having fun. Just wait until your little princess hits that age, it’s awesome!
While she has no clue who Dexter is, I enjoyed the little hint because I love the show.
I have been out all day and couldn’t get to a computer to see your lovely home tour, so I’m sorry for commenting late! But, girl, I LOVE everything! It was so worth the wait all day 🙂 You’ve made creepy halloween totally beautiful!!! And every other room is so cozy and just lovely. Amazing job!
Thank you so so much Lindsay! I had serious anxiety 😉
Holy amazing batman! Seriously. I’m beyond impressed. I didn’t know creepy could be so classy!
Thanks so much Michelle! CC for creepy classy…classy creepy?? 😉
This. Is. Fabulous! That dining room is truly to-die for. Pun intended. It’s just gorgeous, while also being creepy. You have a gift.
To die for, that’s good. Love it and thanks!
Wonderful job! Thoroughly had a ball looking at all the pictures….Love the way you worked in Halloween ….you are good!!!
Wow, Julia! Your home is stunning! I love the creepy accents in your dining room and how warm the rest of your home feels. Please come decorate mine! 🙂
so many creepy touches in the dining room, love them! what is that trio of brass owls in that tray, I like them. and your kitty totally blends in with the white fluffy blanket.
Thank you so much! My husband bought me the owls for Christmas last year.
And yes my kitty blends in she is the best snuggler ever.
Julia…seriously, I am in awe. That gallery wall is crazy amazing. I love it. You are so creative. I really want to come over for dinner 🙂
Looks amazing, Julia! I love the updates to your bedroom and of course, the living room is just fantastic! It looks creepy yet chic—never thought I’d put those two words together to describe a style. Wonderful job : ]
I enjoy looking at photos of your beautiful home. That black and white throw–I love it! (Where did you get it?)
A few years ago, we happened upon a booth tucked away in the back of an antique mall that was decked out in vintage medical and dental items. They had set it up for Halloween and it was most frightening. It was amazing how creepy all that old surgical equipment was.
It looks as though you gave your little one a great party!
Thank you!
The one throw is actually and H&M scarf. It’s just so big that I thought it could work as a throw.
And I agree I can’t imagine how it used to be to get a tooth pulled. It scares me to death.
I tried commenting on this yesterday, but apparently I cannot comment from my phone, grrrrrrrrr! Everything looks so awesome! You are a super creative and talented gal! 😉
Thanks Gabbi, that happens to me all the time with my phone!
Looks amazing 🙂 Agree with Jennifer that you make gross stuff so beautiful! Love the composition of the gallery wall!
Thanks so much for coming over and for having me on your blog tomorrow. Thanks so much for coming over and for having me on your blog tomorrow.

Whoa, Julia, I think your creepy decor is just about the coolest I’ve ever seen! I’m sure the party was a huge success! All of your fall touches are just icing on the cake of your beautiful home!
I think it’s amazing how chic you made creepy Halloween look! I much prefer your red and black take to the typical orange and black. The rest of your home looks so cozy! Saw you came to the Hometalk Halloween bash. Sorry I missed you! If you happened to see the short brunette with hubby and 2 little kiddos then you at least passed by me. 🙂
I never knew creepy could look so chic. You rocked it!
WOW! your dining room: WOW! love that wall gallery Julia 🙂 & I love how you added touches of Fall/Halloween into your spaces (those spiders are creepy/funny) 😉
so sorry to have been missed so many of your posts this last week Julia but I’ve been absent of the blogging world until today! I’m making sure to catch up on my favorite blogs today! 🙂
hope you are doing well too!
Your take on Halloween is genius! I love it.
Thank you Dominique

Kelly
I love your design sense. I could put every item in your home into mine! LOVE (what looks to be) the sweater pillows on your bed.
Everything is so fantastic.
Love all the fabulously spooky touches! All you need it a black cat!!
Catching up on my blog reading, and WOW Julia, *imaginary hat* you outdid yourself in that dining room!!! I am soooo impressed! Also your white kitty is made for that room, don`t you think? Purrfect. Plus, I spotted the fabric I love so much on that pillow behind her. Actually I´m waiting for my Küchensofa to be returned any day now, neubezogen in genau diesem Stoff. Ich kann´s kaum erwarten! Off now to more reading, have a good weekend,
Viele Grüße,
Katrin
Hallo Katrin und vielen Dank für die lieben Worte!
Ja der Stoff ist toll und ich wünschte mir er wäre nicht so verdammt teuer sonst hätte ich viel mehr davon 🙁
