Milo Baughman Inspired Dining Room Table
I had such a busy past weekend. It was kind of crazy. Our son wrestled all weekend and made us proud by placing in his varsity tournament which was a first for him. So my post today will be pretty short because I just didn’t have the time to do anything else.
But I did have the time to do some Craigslist shopping with the hubby on Friday and I want to show you guys what I bought. Let me explain, ok? I have been searching for something to change up our dining room and I came across this vintage brass table that looked like a Milo Baughman.
I was thrilled to find a brass and glass dining table that is extendable. The thought of having a small table in our dining room for regular days that can extend into something bigger for when we have guests is amazing.
Check it out:
Unfortunately I don’t have the original Craigslist photo to show you but it doesn’t really matter right? When I saw it I knew I loved it immediately. And while I didn’t know if it was something special I thought I’d ask my friend Brynne from The Gathered Home (who is a Craigslist pro) if she had come across something like this before and she thought it looked like a Milo Baughman design:
It’s a replica though which I noticed once we loaded it into the car but who cares.
I want this table so much. Replacing the smoked glass with solid white glass would really look good too.
So after all this, I’m thinking about listing it on Craigslist or Etsy again though because the size is just off . It’s such a great find which makes me even consider getting a storage unit so I don’t have to give it up but I know the hubby wouldn’t like this next step in my hoarding tendencies at all. Yikes.
So much to think about now. And I almost feel like I’d try to talk any potential table buyer out of buying this amazing brass table from me. I don’t want to let it go.
And one more thing, I was over at Jennifer’s blog “Town and Country Living” yesterday with my home tour. You can check it out by clicking HERE.

you had me at dark blue velvet! i think it fits the original inspiration of those chairs perfectly!
Yes, now I’m fabric hunting. Velvet isn’t really a great cheap option 😉
Awesome, just awesome! I love the set and the black cushion on the chair just looks prefect. These are just some amazing finds. Thank you for sharing!
🙂 thanks for the visit 🙂
Do you have a need for it in the basement? But, on the other hand, you could sell it and make quite a bit of money. Put it towards something that you love that does fit the space!
unfortunately I have the tulip table in the basement already. There is no way I can put another table down there. My hubby would kill me 😉
Ah, I’m sorry this story has such a bittersweet ending! The table is amazing, but so is that light fixture!
It is bittersweet for sure. I have such a hard time letting go 😉
Such a great find, Julia. I know you’ll find the perfect mix!
I hope so!
So sad for you! That table is so beautiful! I’m sure you will find a loving home for her!
It hurts me to hand it over to someone else 🙁
I love the set!!! It’s so YOU! I can’t believe you’d sell it! I’m sure it will be easy to sell — absolutely gorgeous.
I don’t want to sell the entire set 😉 I’d keep the chairs with my old table. And believe me it is going to hurt like heck to hand this table over to someone else.
I think you should keep the table! The chandelier is awesome but you can definitely find another light fixture that is just as cool. Is there anywhere else you could put that chandelier, like your master bedroom? And yes to blue velvet chairs! I agree with you about matching sets but for some reason I like this table and chairs as a matching set!
I’ve had my eye on that chandelier for so long and wouldn’t have anywhere else to put it. And I want it so badly!!! I want to move the one in the dining room over our basement bar. It’s perfect for that area. But you are also right. The chairs and table look great together 😉
Oh Julia, there’s no such thing as too much gold! 😉 If you’re looking for blue velvet fabric and haven’t checked them out already, check out West Elm. They have fabric for sale by the yard!
Haha Caitlin! I think sometimes there can be too much gold after all, especially if your name is Liberace or Kind Ludwig of Bavaria LOL. I bought Ikat fabric from West Elm once but will check them out again for the velvet. Thanks!
HA, I had a too much gold moment recently! I love that table it’s unfortunate! Marble is too expensive but maybe creating a faux carrera marble top temporarily to lighten it up? Good luck!
Yes, if I would keep it, I would replace the top with something white.
So shiny! It’s so pretty!
Ha it’s shiny for sure!
I don’t want you to let it go either! But it’s your home and I can’t force you to let me live vicariously through you 😉
Well maybe you could force me 😉 you should try
Oh man! What a tough call! It looks so good there! But… sputnik light!!! So hard!
The sputnik has haunted my dreams for a while. I feel like I have to make it happen
Ohhhhh my dear god that is such a beautiful set!! I was searching for something just like that for months before realising it was never ever going to happen and decided on a white table instead. I would end up knocking my house down and rebuilding to get that gorgeous beauty to work (HA!) but yes, it’s your home and it has to work the way you live! Oh but it kills me to see that it doesn’t… blue velvet would be freaking amazing though! Parting is such sweet sorrow…. xxx
I don’t want to let it go!!! I was looking forever too and I bought it on my birthday. I felt like it was meant to be. My daughter yelled at me yesterday because she doesn’t want the table to leave either. I wish I could just ship it to you and then I could see it on your blog whenever I wanted to 😉
Ya know, I would be tempted to keep it until you get your light fixture and just TRY it and see how you feel before letting it go. I’ve yet to get to the point where I’ve ever said, ‘Yep, too much gold’ in a room myself! LOL! Don’t sell it until you are 100% sure that it’s definitely not going to work with the light fixture (which I also have eyed up and also love – I want one for my living room). And then, if all else fails, SEND IT TO ME!! Haha! Also, your daughter has excellent taste. Clearly gets it from her mum! xxx
I think you are right. I might have to wait.
She’s a little rebel and wants me to paint her bedroom black now. Ain’t happening though, I just got done with it 😉
Oh my god, I love this kid. Can I please adopt her? She can have whatever she wants 😉 xxx
This will sound melodramatic, but my heart aches for you! Yes, I did just type that. It’s GORGEOUS! How about a dining room expansion? At least you get to keep the chairs. What about using it as a desk?

Oh, what a fab find! Blue velvet with the gold sounds lovely. Too bad the table didn’t work out in your space. 🙁
AAH but it’s so pretty!!! Once you mentioned blue velvet, I went from being 99% sure to 999999% sure. This is such an amazing find that I think it’s an exception to any feelings of “too much gold”, although I agree with Caitlin and have yet to know what that realization feels like. If you don’t keep it I’ll take it 😛
It’s gorgeous, Julia!! I feel your pain having to let it go, but at least you’ll have the fabulous chairs!
OMG! I’m so jealous! I love that set! So amazing and beautiful. I think I would keep the set. Live with it for awhile and see what you think. Congrats on an amazing score! (And if you decide not to keep the table, and you live anywhere near DC – let me know — I might be interested!)
