Living Pretty With Your Pets: Run To Radiance
Today I want you guys to meet a fabulous blogger I follow. She’s been in the Blogger Stylin Home Tours with me several times already too so you might already know her. I feel like there are so many amazing bloggers in the Dallas area where Tania of Run to Radiance is from as well. If you want to see some amazing house flips and DIY projects then she’s your girl.
Hi everyone! My name is Tania and I blog over at Run to Radiance. I’m so excited to be here today participating in the Living Pretty with Pets series at Julia’s blog. I was so honored when she asked me to join in—I love her style and she is the kindest person!
I am a proud fur-mom to two Miniature Australian Shepherds, Boomer and Bella—nicknamed BooBell for short. Although they are the same breed, they are completely different personalities- as we speak one is at my feet upside down begging for belly rubs (Bella) and the other is shoving a ball into my leg repeatedly (Boomer).
I got Boomer immediately after graduating college and moving back home to Dallas. I was moving into an apartment by myself and really wanted a companion. After doing some research on breeds, I decided a mini aussie would be perfect—small enough to live in an apartment, but energetic enough to go on runs with me in the mornings. I drove out to a farm in Oklahoma and ended up falling in love with the runt of the litter, who followed me around the entire time. I named him Boomer, after my alma mater, the University of Oklahoma. Here we are on our first day together!
Boomer has been my most faithful friend over the past ten years. He was with me through a big breakup, countless bad first dates, multiple jobs and meeting—and marrying!—my best friend and the love of my life, Scott. A few months into marriage we decided to add another dog to our mix and brought home Bella.
Bella is totally different from Boomer—independent and prefers snoozing to chasing things around the yard!
We are lucky enough that my parents have a ranch property just north of Dallas, and Boomer and Bella love running around and “helping” the family fish. 🙂
At our last house, living with dogs was a big challenge. We lived there for three years while we completely renovated the home ourselves (you can see before and after photos here)! This meant months of carrying the dogs from room to room so they wouldn’t step on a nail or get too curious with exposed wire. 🙂 They both did enjoy being “helpful” yet again with some of the remodeling projects though!
We all love our new house! We are taking the remodeling process much slower and enjoying walking around without fear of hazard. The dogs—and us!—also love the large backyard with a covered patio where they can play together.
Some of my friends ask how we keep our house so clean living with two dogs with a lot of hair (to be fair, I have a ton of hair and shed more than they do!). It’s actually helpful—I’m more motivated to sweep and clean and put things on the counters away with dogs than I would be without them. I also put together a post with some of my favorite cleaning tips and supplies that you can take a look at.
When it comes down to it, my life is richer and WAY more fun because of our dogs. They are loyal and hilarious and Scott and I wouldn’t trade them for the world!
They certainly look like they live a wonderful dog life. I would enjoy running around a farm too 😉
Now let me show you some more photos of Tania’s beautiful home:
