…because I didn’t forget about you.
Oh you guys!!! I’m still here and doing well with my kiddos in Germany. It’s just been a little different this year starting with the awful wifi at my parents house. I’m not going to go somewhere else to sit down and blog. Writing a post here just takes a lot longer. Another thing that has changed this year is that I’m trying to focus more on having the kids spend time in my home town with kids their own age so they talk the language more. I really focused on that while my husband was still in the US. The years before we’ve done day trips after day trips and this year we haven’t. My husband is here now, so him and my son are taking their annual trip and we are also going to go on another small trip with my dad. Stay tuned for that if travel posts interest you.
Another thing happened which I hinted already before I left. And I’m sick to my stomach when I report that Lilly cat is no longer with us. Coming home to a house without her being there will be so sad. I don’t even know if I want to write a lot about her because it upsets me so much. Here is what I wrote on
Instagram:
She was just such a good cat. Never peed outside the litterbox, never fought with the other cats, never scratched or bit anyone… She will certainly be missed by us. And we are all very glad to have the young cats yet to distract us in the month to come. Without them it would be way too quiet at home.

Taking walks through my hometown never gets old.
Remember the restaurant where we had our wedding reception? Well that’s for those of you who’ve followed a long for a long time.
Soooo, if you are new around here then you can read and follow on our travel post here:

My favorite new find
I’ve been doing some more shopping with my mom and I know I have shared this dress with you guys already (click
HERE to see the post) but I have to point out the strap which is holding my favorite purse. I love it! It’s a Valentino knock-off.
Guitar Strap for Handbag Knock Off
Can you believe that they want about $900 for that original strap. Makes me giggle, it’s just so insane (click
HERE to see that I’m not kidding). I do love the look though and you can use it for so many bags and purses and even cameras. The German’s have found a definite love for those straps and you can see them in fashion stores in bigger cities.
Sooooo guess what? I found a strap almost identical to this one for $13!!!! Click
HERE that I’m for real 😉 I’ve been wearing mine ever since and it’s such a fun accessory and eye catcher.
Or you could just get a purse that comes with an embroidered strap already like the following one. And take the strap to use with other purses as well when you want to.
I’m in love with the look and how versatile the strap is.
Tschüß and that’s it for now. I’ll be back soon with some travel posts and then back to normal when I’m back in the US. I really needed that to recharge and look forward to my crafting life again.

I was so sorry to hear about Lilly 🙁 Such a beautiful girl!
Glad the trip is going well–love seeing the photos as always–and, IMO, as someone who just basically took the summer off from blogging, travel is a great excuse for not getting posts up 😉 Enjoy the rest of your trip–look forward to hearing all about it when you get home!
Thanks Gretchen, enjoy your summer too
Ahh these posts always make me miss Germany… except maybe the lack of free wi-fi, haha.
Have fun my friend and eat a pretzel for me, preferably with Camembert!
Thanks Maggie, I had a lot of Camembert already in my Obazta, I indulged in all my favorite foods and beverages already. I hope they won’t have to roll me off the plane 🙂
you look so fabulous! i miss you, but i will be here when you get back! XOXO
Thanks Cassie and miss talking to you too
Miss you, wondered what happened to you, now I know. Enjoy your time off with your family.
Thanks Shelly! It’s also nice to hear that I’m missed
I am so sorry to hear about Lilly. You have had such a difficult year. As much as you will miss Lilly enjoy your vacation. I am glad you will come home to the youg cats.
Thanks Debra! I’m looking very much forward to seeing my crazy young cats again and I think losing two cats in one year is more than enough for one year 🙁
Ha ha. It’s hard to forget you, Julia! You’re always missed. Incredibly sorry to hear about Lilycat! Losing a beloved pet while overseas is one of the hardest emotional rollercoasters imaginable. The grief at times is insurmountable. We lost our Teddlebugs tragically in 2015 while we were in the States on holiday, and it’s something I have had a hard time coming to grips with. The pain has eased, but the hole is still big in my heart. Sending love and strength to you and the family. Hoping you’ll continue to have a wonderful family-focused holiday with your folks. Mwah, heather xo
Thanks Heather and I’m sorry that you lost your little love that way too. That name is so cute. I certainly will enjoy my time with my family
I too have relatives in Lohr. My grandmother and mother were both born there. I have been lucky enough to visit my cousins twice there and I stayed at The Krone Hotel. Wonder if you know my family- Weber and Greulich. Enjoy your visit.
Oh what a small world it is sometimes. I do know two family Webers but not Greulich.
i want u to know that i enjoy so much readding your blogg… sorry about your cat . enjoy your trip with your lovely
family & have a nice summer.
Oh I’m glad you enjoy it, thank you so much.
The Germany photos are awesome! So sorry about Lilly the cat! Enjoy your vacation!
Thank you 🙂
Oh so sorry to hear of the passing of our beloved Lilly. Yo made such a wonderful family life for her and that is probably one of the reasons why she was so well behaved! She was truly loved….
Love the pics of Germany that you have posted about over the years. Someday I will get to see your beautiful country!! The architecture and history is magnificent and the food… well that goes without saying …
Is you son going to write another post this year? Maybe you can convince you daughter also!
Enjoy the time with your family!
I’m glad you enjoy them. I’m planning on having my son write one again. Hopefully next week. i’ve asked my daughter too. She wants to write about slime and gluten free food 😉 Cracks me up
Cute look. Love how comfy it looks.
Very sorry to hear about your dear Lilly. What a lovely life she had with you and your family. All the best to you.
Thanks, we miss her so much
I am so sorry about your Lilly. I recently lost my 17 year old calico Noodles. So, so sad.I still have 3 other cats so that does help. Take care and enjoy your time in Germany. Hopefully the weather is a bit cooler there than here in Georgia where we are sweltering in temps in the high 90’s.
Yes a lot cooler here and in Germany. So sorry about your Noodles. It’s so hard but really does help when you have other pets, I feel the same way.
