Master Bathroom Updates
I wanted to update you guys on my master bathroom updates today. It’s been a slow process. Like I said my hubby had surgery and couldn’t do anything which meant I had to do it all, the kids are back at soccer with their practices and games and we’ve got a bunch of other things going on. Hopefully things will speed up again soon.
I managed to get the floor updated over the weekend to the same look as the kids’ bathroom update (click HERE for floor DIY if you missed it and HERE if you missed my plans) and I haven’t really posted about my new beautiful faucet or mirror move yet either. So here we go!
{my Ikea Godmorgon vanity came with the white drain hole and popup drain}
After updating the other bathroom’s floor, I knew I wanted the same look in our master bathroom and that I wanted a black faucet to match the floor. I like substantial faucets with one single handle. I actually really dislike faucets with two handles where you have to adjust each one to get the right temperature. “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” And since I adore the look of our gold Delta Trinsic faucet (click HERE) I started to consider the Delta Trinsic bar prep faucet in mat black… it has the same shape and look at a much smaller scale. I just love it. It couldn’t be more perfect (click HERE to buy it). {update: I recently changed out the faucet and you can see the blog post HERE}
And just to remind you let me show you a before or should I say in-between photo:

If you remember my original plan (click HERE) there are a couple pieces different or missing yet:
I’m still waiting for the electrician to tell me if he can give me the ceiling pendant hook up I so desperately want.
I moved my $20 Goodwill mirror (similar one HERE) into the bathroom and I think it’ll work. I really wanted the round one but had a hard time finding the right size so why not just use what I have and it has the perfect size.
And I’ve been scared to drill the holes for the ring pulls I planned. The reason is that it will void the 10 Year Ikea vanity warranty which I didn’t know and I also think is ridiculous since I’m not altering the functionality.
It’s definitely a missing piece in the design plan.
If I can saw a sofa in half (click HERE if you missed it) and put it back together, I shouldn’t be a chicken when it comes to drilling holes into those drawers right?
Sooooo yes it’s been somewhat of a slow progress but it’s getting there.
One more thing. I had gotten some questions about the top (it’s on sale now for $46.99) I wore in some of the photos for the Glitter Guide feature and you can find it HERE and my all time favorite leggings HERE. I live in those.
{Update: I’ve also made some DIY artwork for the room and finally attached the hardware. You can find out more HERE or click the below photo.}
That’s it for today. I needed that extra nudge for the ring pulls my friends.

i am such a fan of that floor update! it looks SO good! i would love to do it in our bathroom but the tile is textured and i don’t think it would work as well. BOOOO! and i love the mirror in there!
I just ordered a different type of vinyl that is made for floors and outdoor applications and I’ll try it out on some random leftover tiles and I’ll let you know 😉
Yes, the floor update is amazing! Secretly hoping I find a tan and white floor like this in our house hunting so that I can do the same thing.
I hope you find one too but i haven’t seen many tan checkerboard floors. But even if you find a black and white checkerboard floor you could do the same 😉
This is GORGEOUS!!!! The floors rock!
Thank you Krystine!
You can do anything girl! It looksgreat!

So so so beautiful Julia 🙂 I love it all. That mirror works so well in there and I just love the floors.
Thank you Katja
I love the matt black facet and the mirror shape – unexpected! Looking really good. Have you decided on the pendants yet? Have a great Monday.
Thank you Toni. I’m going to finally decide on the pendants after the electrician came and can confirm/hook me up with the outlets. I’m still not 100% what can be done. I hate the wait.
HAVE MERCY ! Anyone who can decorate like a super hero, wield power tools, mother children, wife a husband (making up my own verbage as I go ) AND wear faux leather leggings , will have no problem having an IKEA warranty stricken null and void should you ever need to !
LOL, well if you make it sound like this Diane, I think I will have to go upstairs right now and drill the darn holes 😉 Too funny!
Looks fantastic! Go for those handles, girl. You ARE superwoman!
Thanks Arli
I love the vanity and faucet! Can’t wait to get our bathroom remodeled now!
I don’t think you would regret it if you get the Ikea vanity. It’s a good one!
Everything is looking so great! I still can’t get over that floor. Checking out your leggings now… 🙂
I’m not kidding when I say that I live in them. My brother’s wife in Germany bought them too and says the same thing. They are awesome.
I like the white sink stopper. I again chose a gold faucet and it comes with the gold, but I want a white one like yours. Hey go drill the holes right now.
That white stopper comes with the sink actually and is kind of the reason I wanted the sink 😉
Re: the ring pulls – do it! As you say, if you successfully sawed a sofa in half and rebuilt it, ring pulls will be a breeze. My condo is in chaos right now because I tackled hanging more art and there are potential groupings all over the floor. I need to take my own advice and start hanging stuff!
I think I will do it today 😉 Have fun hanging your art
Hi Julia,
I have had that amazing vanity for the last four years and… I just learned reading your post that I voided my warranty four years ago when I drilled those four drawers 🙂 !!! Well only seven more years to go…
BTW, since I speak from experience: I have done it and it is still standing to the test of time, a not so careful husband and two kids… So drill away!
Your bathroom looks fabulous 🙂
Oh that’s so so good to know. Thanks a bunch for letting me know.
That tile!!
Thanks Sarah!
I can’t believe the warranty is void if you add ring pulls! That’s insane. The ring pulls will look amazing. Go for it fearless DIY blogger!!
Right? I think that is insane too. It’s not like I’m messing with the mechanics of the drawers!
Looking so great in there! Hope doing the ring pulls went smoothly (assuming you’ve done them by now; I’m out of town, so I’m trying to catch up!)
It’s looking absolutely fabulous Julia!!
Thank you Trisha
Oh it looks so pretty! If I weren’t in a rental my bathrooms would be getting a major update after seeing this.
Thanks Maggie
Hi Julia. I am looking to buy a Ikea vanity for my bathroom makeover. Is it easy to mount on the wall? And is the quality good?
Hi there! I was able to almost hang it by myself. Just briefly needed my husband to hold it in place. And I personally love the quality. So much better than before
hi there! this looks great! I came across your post looking for a solve for our ikea sink — we went with the same look as you (matte black faucet) but i failed to get matching black for the sink drain, or white like you did! Are those pieces you purchased from IKEA, or elsewhere? Would love tips! The white looks so much nicer than the chrome against the black… My email : [email protected]
Wonderful floor update! Also, I super like the black faucet. It looks so lovely and it complimented the overall look of the bathroom. Such an inspiration!
