Our daughter’s Temple Morgan Hall North dorm room
I feel like I fast-forwarded four years. I can’t believe my son just graduated from Temple, and my daughter just headed there. Over. My son’s 4 years of college, it became clear that it was her top pick as well. She saw how much fun her brother had and how much he loved being in the city. During our many visits to see him, she also fell in love, and I do understand that because it is a beautiful campus with lots of fun things to do in the city.
Her other top pick was Pitt, but the long, boring ride to Pitt and the fact that they offered her less made up her mind, and ours as well. It is definitely nice that we can come help her or get her within an hour and a half. We (her included) just wish that both kids had at least overlapped one year at Temple together.

When we were deciding what dorm she would be staying in, we all knew that we didn’t want her to stay at White Hall Temple University dorms like our son. (after that he stayed at Temple Nest apartments)
While Whitehall is more affordable, it is slightly off campus, which I didn’t like all that much. Our son had a quad as well, but it didn’t come with a small kitchen and living room.
While I was packing, Frank had to inspect everything. He loves sitting in my car.

She is thrilled when I take selfies with her as you can tell.

Our daughter is staying at Morgan Hall North in a quad with a kitchen, living room, and two bathrooms. She is also very lucky to have been able to get an amazing view of the city, which is what she dreamed about.

Our daughter is in a 4-person, 2 bedroom apartment (double).

Temple Morgan Hall North dorm room bedroom and closet
Since the bed is in the middle of the room in the rendering, we decided not to do a headboard. When we arrived, the girls then decided that they wanted to move the beds against the windows, but still didn’t want a headboard. Let’s see if she’ll change her mind about that after living there for a while.
I don’t have a photo of the before because we were in such a rush. You only get your move-in cart for half an hour, and it takes a couple of trips with the elevators to get everything upstairs. There were also a lot of people in the apartment, and it was a bit chaotic. The dorm beds are the same as my son had at Whitehall.
Here is her side of the room:

Just look at that view! I already requested a photo of a thunderstorm one day.

And the nighttime view is even better.

And here is her roommate’s side of the room. Both rooms have a green wall and a white wall with gray/black-ish floors

I found the mirror a year ago at BJ’s and thought it would one day be perfect for my daughter’s dorm room, which turned out to be true!

The girls share this closet, and each has a drawer unit. At Whitehall, my son and his roommate each had their own closet on their side of the room.

I love that she is now into disco balls, just like me, which you can see in her artwork and pillow. I recently made some melted disco balls and am thinking about giving her one, too. Check out my DIY melted disco ball tutorial.

Temple Morgan Hall North dorm room kitchen
I don’t have a photo of the kitchen all put together and cleaned up since her roommates’ parents were still working in it when we left. They were the last ones to move their daughter in.
To the left of the fridge are 4 cubbies where the four occupants can each have a space to put their pantry food items.

Temple Morgan Hall North dorm room living room
The living room is right across from the table and kitchen and has a great view as well.
It’s just a really nice dorm apartment altogether.

Temple Morgan Hall North dorm room bathrooms
Here is a photo of my daughter and her roommates’ bathroom. There is another bathroom with small shower next to her other two suite mates’ bedroom

Since she has a kitchen, she brought her brother’s old kitchen items from his college apartment, which I bought at the thrift shop. Her one suite mate ended up bringing all new things, though, so we took those thrifted items home again.

To say that she is thrilled with her living quarters is an understatement!
It was hard to leave her, but it made it easier that she was so ready to be on her own. My husband and I were crying, and she was pretty much laughing at us. And it made me think back to when my parents put me on a plane to come here to the US to start my internship. I was so ready, and I can’t imagine now how difficult it was for them. Especially since I never came back!
Morgan Hall North FAQ
Do you have a question about Morgan Hall North that I did not answer here? Drop it in the comments, and I will do my best to help.
When you walk into the room, the left side is A (or 1) and the right side is B (or 2), and it should be labeled. Roommates can switch sides, but need to report it to the resident hall supervisor so it gets documented. The reason this matters is that your assigned side is tied to your name in the system for emergency purposes and for financial responsibility if there is any damage on that side of the room.
Not every room has one on the back of the door, so I would bring your own just to be safe.
Buy an extra-long shower curtain and liner. The standard length ones are too short.
There is a narrow cork strip above the bed that you can use to hang things. Keep in mind that nothing can be hung from the ceiling or walls with nails, so plan accordingly when thinking about decorating.
Yes. The common area comes with a sofa, chairs, and a TV console. You will need to bring your own TV and rug if you want one. A kitchen table and chairs are also provided.
There are two bathrooms in the apartment, and neither has built-in storage. The smaller one has even less room to work with. Bring an over-toilet storage unit and a tower with drawers, and you will be fine.
The desk is approximately 40 to 42 inches wide.
The Fresh Grocer is right next door and has reasonable prices. There is a CVS on campus for quick runs. The closest Target is at 6th and Spring Garden. If you want IKEA, it is in South Philly, and there is also a Target and a Giant nearby. I always ordered same-day Costco deliveries directly to Morgan Hall, and Instacart through Aldi is also a great option. Temple has also run a trip to IKEA for students during move-in week in past years, so keep an eye out for that. I’m not sure if they still do that.

Our daughter’s bedroom at home
In case you are new to my blog, here are some other photos of her previous rooms at home.

Before we bought her the white queen-sized bed, she had the French antique bed that also used to be in my son’s bedroom.

And before I painted that bedroom dark blue it used to be a light yellow cream that was almost white.

Tschüß,

Sending hugs. I remember crying the three hour drive home last year. This year she has an apartment with 4 bedrooms and her own room. Heading there tomorrow to drop her off. I’m already sad.
I hope your drop off went well too. It doesn’t get any easier no matter how many times we do it, right? Hugs to you too and so good to hear from you.
Sending you many hugs. It will be “Cats Rule” in your house:)
Thanks Debby! Yes it will be. It is also nice to have my son back at home for a little while. I am not an empty nester yet 😉
