My new plates and some random updates
Happy Monday everyone. The cold is finally on the way out and we are back to just 32 degrees LOL. It was so cold over the weekend. Way too cold for skiing. But I think I’m going skiing again today before the rain comes.
I haven’t showed you my three new custom cat plates from my favorite whimsy Etsy shop artist, Rachel Kozlowski. I ordered three more of my oldest cats with my Etsy gift card from Christmas. And the kids and I love how they turned out! Silly and a little cheesy how my brother would say but that’s exactly what we wanted.
The kids picked their characteristic outfits.
But you don’t have to pick outfits. I ordered a custom plate for my husband’s cousin (our vet) as a birthday gift. And this is her dog that passed away. She didn’t want an outfit. I think the plate is adorable:
And there are the plates in our kitchen with the others:
You can order your own from Rachel’s Etsy shop by clicking HERE.
Oh and I hang my plates with THESE hangers that I attach to the back. To be safe I use super glue!
If you are new around here then you might have missed the post about Monkey passing away (click HERE), my first set of plates HERE, my kitchen plate wall in general (click HERE) or my visit with the artist (click HERE).
And for those of you who liked my curtains and have asked me to start selling them because you just don’t want to make them yourself, well I still don’t want to make them to sell but I thought the curtains below would be a nice similar graphic alternative. Don’t you think so? Click HERE to see.
And here a photo to compare mine again and click HERE for the tutorial:
Yes not the same but similar and would look really great too.
If you follow me on Instagram then you saw that I posted about leggings. Say what? I know it’s not the norm for me to post about clothing, but I feel like I need to become a spokesperson for them now. And no I’m not being sponsored although I wish I was. I’d love to accept a monthly supply of different Spanx!
I haven’t started to buy their underwear yet but I love their line of leggings that I describe as a butt bra and jiggle proof. I have tried many other leggings and they just aren’t even comparable. So I’ve been gladly splurging on them.
Did you ever stand behind someone at the register with leggings on where you just wish you didn’t have to look but it’s just all in your face and not good? I feel like it just can’t happen with these leggings.
I actually have to buy the cropped leggings (click HERE) so they fit perfectly on my legs in length but they do have them in regular length too (click HERE). The faux leather look is definitely my favorite but I also have THESE and THESE. And in case you are wondering about the boots, they are from Aldo and now 60% off which makes them perfect for next year (click HERE).
And then on Friday night a drain pipe burst under our master bathroom sink which now makes me think I should just rip it all out since I was planning on doing that at some point anyways. It of course puts everything else on hold then. But why should I redo the piping for it and then down the road redo it all again? I think i might just try to do it now. Cross your fingers that I don’t run into anything awful. And I hope I can finally go and get my floating vanity from Ikea next week or the following.
And two cute photos of my kitties to finish this post:
That’s it for today and have a great week.

love the new plates! and i need those leggings after the last few weeks… about to get on the treadmill and i have to run 5 miles but i am thinking i might just keep going a bit… because i had wine and ice cream the last two nights. holiday, right? not like it was romantic so i just shoved my face in ice cream. 🙂 i am wondering where i can use 4 plates of my doggies because i so want them!!!!!
Oh I’d love to see plates of your pups! Noa and Lilly really loved the process of nailing down their characteristics and how the artist should picture them. It was fun and exactly how they should always be remembered. You know I love a little cheesy quirkiness 😉
I love how the plates turned out! You have me thinking about ordering some with my girls on them. How do you hang them on the wall with no visible brackets?
I just updated my post because that’s a good question and I should have included how I hang them. I use these hangers here http://amzn.to/1PzthLp which I glue on with super glue, just to be safe.
I will have to look into those leggings Julia. Thank you for the recommendation. I need a good pair to wear out in public! Your cats are so beautiful and you capture them so well. Your photog skills are amazing!
Thanks, I love taking pictures of them. My kids are annoyed with me now when I photograph them 😉 I truly stand behind those leggings, they are amazing. I tried on so many different once. I heard good things about the Soma leggings too and it’s just not the same.
Great new plates!
Love the gold bath mirror accessory! Perfect timing to do your bath redo.

Isn’t it like a sculpture? I fell in love with it the minute I saw it.
Thank you so much for telling me Pier One had similar marble top table. I got one & I love it!! Very nice room you have!!
Thank you! That’s great it worked out with Pier1
Good post today. I have had so many cats and dogs through the years that it would be so difficult to pick and choose who should be honored with a plate but I love yours. I also love the pictures of your kitties.
That’s true if you had so many, it’s hard to pick only a couple. I actually wish I could afford to have way more cats than I do 😉
I just bought a pair of skinny jeans called Democracy. I got mine at Stein Mart, but I also saw them at Nordstrom Rack. They are made for people with curves and booties! They fit like leggings though and are so comfy. I like the idea of these Spanx ones as well.
Oh I’ll have to look at those
Those are great pictures of your kitties. And those Spanxs are sigh, not in my budget. If you can do the bath, I would go for what you want. I had the same break in my bathroom not long after I broke my collar bone. It was a nightmare trying to sop the water with one hand. I had Steve take back the cabinet he picked out, cause I just did not like it and …… I still don’t have one in there.
Oh believe me Sheryll when I say they aren’t really in my budget either. I really shouldn’t have 😉 And for the bathroom I’m trying to get what I want but do have to compromise on some other things and work with what I have.
Those plates are so fabulous!! And love the leggings too!
Thanks Krystine
