Friday Etsy Favorites and the ugly visual truth about the man-cave
I hate when I realize that the weeks are flying by and it’s yet another Friday. Depressing! And tomorrow is a day that usually gets me into an even funkier mood. I’m turning 31 (cough!!!) I mean 41 (sigh!!!) DARN IT!
I wanted to have a great giveaway of some sorts or a big bash and then I just don’t feel like it. Birthdays just aren’t the same anymore when you are older. Why is that? I did treat myself yesterday though with some retail therapy and I’m going to go for a massage with girlfriends tomorrow which I’m really looking forward too. Getting older is all about reinventing your former lifestyle and self I guess and I’m working on it. I feel like I’m in my early twenties inside but my body really doesn’t agree with me that much anymore. Gosh I hate when I talk like this but do you know what I mean? Ugh you probably don’t! That’s why I love skiing so much. I’m hidden in my layers of snow gear and going down the mountain makes me feel alive and younger and nobody can (maybe) tell that I’m underneath all those layers. I hope I won’t get hurt one day with my skiing shenanigans though.
Anyways I need to stop and focus on todays post.
If you’ve been following me for a while then you already know that I don’t care about Valentine’s Day at all. I kind of hate it! My husband is so lucky! I just want people to be nice to me throughout the year not only on forced days like V-Day and Mother’s Day. Random surprises are so much better!
But I thought for those of you who really love days like that I’d find some items on Etsy.
If you have an apple watch or your significant other does then these handmade leather bands for the watch would make a great gift. I want one for myself:
I’ve featured a ring like this before. Just love a good statement ring (click HERE) and I’ve always loved pearls. The entire shop has amazing jewelry:
If you want to send out something sweet for Valentine’s Day and you hate to bake yourself like uhm well yeah….like me, then this assortment would be a great solution from Etsy:
Or maybe your man doesn’t have a sweet tooth at all? Then you could order him homemade jerky on Etsy. I really had no idea! Click HERE to see the shop called RanchHouseRooster.
Or if you are really “schmoopy” then you can get these shams from Etsy:
Love my “Seinfeld” and miss that show. It’s a must see episode, am I right? If you have no clue what I’m talking about then you should see the little “schmoopy” episode on you tube by clicking HERE.
And if you aren’t quite that “schmoopy” then these cool Mr. & Mrs. shams are enough too. I really love them!
Oh and do you guys remember the pineapple candle from last week? I got so many inquiries about it because apparently when you checked about ordering it, US shipping wasn’t available. But the shop owner now informed me that she changed it. Click HERE to get to the Etsy shop.
And since then I found another version but not on Etsy. This time for $6.99. Not bad right? Click HERE to see.
This next little gadget is something that cracked me up and I feel like my entire family needs it. It’s a leash for your Apple remote (click HERE). We have several Apple TV remotes in the house and they are tiny. I might have to stick these leashes somewhere and relax. Isn’t that a perfect little gift for that certain person in your life who loses that remote all the time.
But you saw the headline and actually just wanted to see the other half of my basement, the messy, awful and in-progress side of the basement which I documented with horrible iPhone photos. I’ll let you have it. Are you ready? I’m cringing. No sugar coating! No pretty pictures, just the awful truth!
So I have disheveled curtains, book shelves that need to be rearranged and painted, a dinosaur TV that needs replacing, a huge wrestling mat that my husband loves dearly, workout gear, a drum set and my Etsy shop area to the left. Nice right? I have my work cut out for me down there and I’m not sure what I will do with the shelving and TV yet. We just do so much stuff down there and I need to find a place for it all.
Well did you see Wednesday’s post about the other nicer half of the basement? If you didn’t then you can click HERE to catch up.
Have a great weekend.

not cringing at all- feeling more normal! and i love those pillow cases!
I don’t even know where to start on that side of the room 😉
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday!! You know, it was difficult for me to think of turning 50. A life threatening event happened and thank God, I survived! I decided then to welcome each year…some do not have that opportunity. I also feel that you relax more with each decade, “things” become less important and family and friends more important. 🙂
Good luck with the man cave! No cringing…you are being “real”.
xo

Oh no a life threatening event certainly puts things in perspective. I do thank God every day for what I have though that’s not really what I meant. It’s just an adjustment getting older. I do find that I’m exactly the opposite though. I’m not at all more relaxed. I just to be a carefree person when I was in my twenties and the older I get the more stressed out and anxious I am. It’s actually awful. I worry so much about all kinds of things. Like my parents in Germany and that I’m so far away, my kids and so many other things. And that’s why I feel getting older is hard. I have to take care of other people which I didn’t have to do when I was young.
Have a great weekend Pat.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! The ‘other side’ of your basement is not so bad. Wave you magic at it!
xo
Haha Sueli, thanks. I wish I’d have a magic wand. Just looking at that side makes me tired and I have to gather some funds before tackeling it.
Hope you have a happy birthday!
Thank you
Bahaha, Love the apple remote leash. We SOOO need that. Also, I’m totally loving the real look at the mess in the basement. Happy Birthday, my friend.
Thanks I’m going to get a massage tomorrow and can’t wait.
I love all your gift ideas. And oh my gosh your family room is perfect. Shows a happy, active family!
Happy, Happy Birthday!..! If I did not know about the kids (getting so grown upish) I would guess you to be turning 21.
LOL 21! I so wish! Thank you Sheryll
Aw, happy birthday Julia! I hope it’s a wonderful day for you! I’m with you on Valentine’s Day – we just don’t really celebrate it and I’d rather have the occasional surprise/treat just because throughout the year 🙂
thanks Brynne, it was a great birthday with the best massage ever. I’m glad I’m not alone in hating Vday 😉
First off, Happy Birthday you gorgeous thing you. You don’t look 41 AT ALL, no worrying about covering yourself up with ski gear 😉 Also, I totally get where you are coming from. When I turned 40, everyone wanted me to have a huge bash and the last thing I felt like doing was celebrating so we booked a tiny cabin in the middle of nowhere with 4 of my closest friends and escaped 😉 I will say, it gets a bit easier with each passing year. I’m no longer really depressed as I was at 40 so ya know, it gets better, honestly. Also, I don’t do V-day either – can’t bear it! lol And lastly, the man cave – all I can think is OH MY GOD TO HAVE THAT KIND OF SPACE. So mess and all I’m still jealous! Ha! xxx
Thanks 😉 Getting away along instead of a big bash sounds amazing! But I had a wonderful massage with girlfriends, then drinks and some good food which was really great too.
It is pretty awesome to have a basement space for us all, I do agree!
Your post made me laugh- at least you HAVE a basement! lol
Oh I’m totally not complaining about having a basement. We do love it and I’m glad I could make you laugh!
Happy birthday!! I’m not into Valentines day, either….which is just as well; I’m sure if I expected Dave to be good at celebrating it, I’d be very disappointed….so it’s good we’re on the same page 😉
I know, it’s good that I don’t expect anything because I think I would set him up for failure LOL
Happy Birthday Julia!! You share the same birthday as my son! The 40’s are fabulous, right?! I’m right there with you!;)
Xo
Aquarians unite. My mom’s birthday is tomorrow. I was her early birthday present 41 years ago. And I’m still learning to love the 40s Shauna 😉 Thanks for the birthday wishes my friend.
That room is great! No cringing! And those watches and that thing for the apple remote is amazing! We are ALWAYS losing ours!
I need several of those leashes. Those tiny things are grounds for lots of fights when they are missing 😉
