Living Pretty With Your Pets: Sandpaper and Glue
Hi there friends, I’m finally back with another pet Friday and I have an adorable crew for you. I always love it when there is an entire bunch of creatures in a house. Just what I like myself. And Stephanie from Sandpaper and Glue has the most adorable little furry family. I know you will love them.
Hi! I’m Stephanie from SandpaperAndGlue.com, a DIY and home decor blog, and I’m so excited to be a part of this series today! My husband and I moved into our split level ranch about 4 years ago and I have been focusing on overhauling it with an eye for resale ever since. I also am super cautious about our decor because we have 3 frisky cats and a dog running around…
Our animals frequently photobomb my blog photos, so I’m glad to take a minute to give them the spotlight. Let’s start at the beginning!
I rescued Zsa Zsa from the MSPCA in 2008, a few months after I graduated college and got my first apartment. She’s about 8 years old now and is one big ball of love. As the only female animal in the house, she’s definitely in charge. And she’ll let you know that. Especially if you try to sleep through your alarm and it’s breakfast time (who else gets slapped in the face by their cat on weekend mornings? Anyone? haha)
The next cat added to our little zoo was Luigi, he’s about 7 now and I swear he still has his kitten energy! If I remember correctly, a friend’s sister found his mom outside her house already  pregnant and was trying to find homes for them before bringing them to a shelter. I took him in as soon as he was old enough, and nothing in my house has been safe ever since! Luigi is a total lovebug, but super destructive. We even had to put child locks on our kitchen cabinets because he was breaking into them, opening boxes, and eating our food! He’s such a ham though, you can’t help but love him. Just check out his smirk…
When I got together with my husband he already had Henry, aka Notorious C.A.T., and he’s probably about 10 or 11 now. One of the people who lived in Matt’s apartment building was moving and couldn’t take him, so Matt took him in. Henry is just the coolest cat ever, and the most elusive. He’s the guardian of the stairs and our house bouncer. If we’re ever yelling at the dog for doing something he shouldn’t Henry runs from where ever he is just to bat him in the face (don’t worry, no claws)! It’s hilarious and amazing.
Then, 4 years ago when we bought our house, we added Dutch to the mix. This dog is seriously my best friend, and luckily the 3 cats and he get along really well together. Dutch came from a rescue in Indiana and took a 15+ hour van ride just to get to us… and I’m so glad he did! We’re pretty sure he thinks he’s just another cat since he refuses to go for walks and loves to cuddle up with them, but he’s awesome with everyone he meets and I can’t picture our house without him.
Thanks so much Julia for letting me share their story today! I hope some of you will hop on over to the blog for a bit to explore- I just posted an awesome DIY hidden litter box this week and have lots of other furniture redos in the archives!

i love that henry bats dutch in the face when dutch is being yelled at- hilarious! and i love dutch, of course!
thanks for including me in the series! you picked out some super cuter pictures 🙂
So cute! Love that Dutch thinks he’s a cat :). I’m always so impressed with states that do such a great job with laws and education that they actually have to transport pets in from other states for people to adopt. Wish it were like that here!!
Hahahaha! Oh I did laugh when I read about Henry batting Dutch when he’s been naughty! So funny. What a cute furry family! xxx
Oh I love you and your beautiful babies. And just wow, you bought that home without your hubby? Holly Molly, it is a good thing he loves you…… I suggest to NOT do such a puchase without him EVER again…… and I am laughing like crazy as I typed that……… he really loves you for sure!!
