A while ago I spotted fabulous modern black and white designer curtains so I came up with a way to DIY black and white checkered curtains for our home.

Curved Arrow

• heat transfer vinyl  • cutting mat • craft knife • pencil • iron • metal ruler • wax paper • cardboard • painters tape • Ikea curtains

Supplies needed:

Cut squares

Use the cutting mat, metal ruler, and craft knife to cut even squares out of the heat transfer vinyl.

1

Make a cardboard template

Cut a template out of cardboard so you can easily lay out squares on the curtain fabric.

2

Iron on vinyl squares

Use the iron and wax paper to iron the heat transfer vinyl squares onto the curtains.

3

Continue with the pattern

Fill the entire curtain fabric with the same even square pattern of the heat transfer vinyl.

4

Hang the curtains

You can use grommet curtains or any other curtains. Simply hang them and you are done.

5

The curtains look great in a modern setting and also in a traditional setting for extra interest. Check out the full tutorial.
