It feels strange having a home tour series this week in light of what has been happening around the world and in this country but I’m going to go about my usual business, especially since I’m home all the time. And maybe for those of you who are stuck at home now as well, you can find some inspiration and craft projects that you can try yourself at home while trying to ride out this virus craziness.
We were informed last week that my son’s German exchange has been canceled which upset us all greatly. We had anticipated it getting possibly postponed but not canceled altogether. Our son’s visit wasn’t supposed to be until the end of June which appears still so far away. Our student was supposed to come in a week and a half and we thought that the visit could have been moved to the fall. Now we don’t even know how much of the money we will get back.
But anyway, I’m happy to be part of Marty’s (A Stroll Thru Life) home tour series again and welcome everyone coming from her blog.
Hello to everyone coming from my friend Cristina at Remodelacasa. I love all the shades of blue in her home. So pretty right?

I haven’t really changed much in our living room. I have reached a stage of being very happy with how things are in our house and only tweak little things here and there. Crafting projects like macrame are where my heart is right now.
I added some new art pieces to the room that I made myself though. Check out my blog post about how to make DIY round geometric wood wall art. Eventually, I want them to end up outside on the fence in a grouping if I figure out the right way to protect them from the elements.

I also added the antique rosary that I found at the thrift shop in Germany last month. I actually found some online on Etsy and according to those shops they are French antique rosaries:
Don’t you love my new Walter lamp? LOL, just kidding. He does this all the time and it cracks me up.
You might have also noticed the fairy lights. They are a little leftover from Christmas and will remain in my palm tree because I love the warm glow. They are actually plugin fairy lights (HERE) which I have on a timer and I love that. It generally drives me crazy that so many fairy lights are battery operated.
Here are my DIY projects featured in this post:
Not much has changed in here besides the planters I made and what I bought thrifting on my trip to Germany last month for my mom’s 80th birthday.
And here is the smaller macrame planter I made (tutorial HERE) with some easter eggs I wood burned last week. I don’t have to worry about the cats breaking them when they bat them around.
Our son’s new bed
Since we were supposed to get our German exchange student on the 23rd, we put my son’s bedroom back in order. If you remember, we gave the antique bed to our daughter since he outgrew it and she really wanted the bed.
I bought him a new bed after I had gathered my favorite platform beds. We decided on number 6 on that list and are very happy with the price and how it looks in his bedroom. I had made it my mission to find a fitted sheet that would always look neat and wouldn’t bunch up and look messy. I’m happy to report that I have found the ONE (click HERE). Just look at his bed! That’s always how it looks and there is no wrinkling. I have bought one for our bed and our daughter’s too. My Instagram friends who bought it too after I recommended it have reported the same thing. It’s awesome!
Our son likes collecting different things like the pins on his shade or the soccer fan scarfs hanging on the curtain rods.
The duvet (HERE) was on my daughter’s bed before but I think it works on his bed as well, even though I would have loved to find a dark green duvet cover instead. So far I haven’t been able to find the right shade of green.
He also collects soccer patches that are displayed on his flags banner.
He started a vinyl collection of his favorite musicians as well.
I took a photo without the scarves on the curtain rod as well so you can see the difference.
And by the way, I also made the “Die Mannschaft” poster for my favorite German soccer fan.
Walter is all dusty in the face from crawling under the bed. I guess I better get some dusting done…LOL!
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed today’s little glimpse into our home and it got your mind off of the virus news on TV.
Now make sure to hop on over to my friend Anita’s at Far Above Rubies. I love her vintage victorian style,
