Layering Different Styles of Artwork
Sorry my friends that I’m having a different schedule this week, or should I say lack of schedule 😉 I guess Tuesday, Thursday and Friday it is for this week and I hope you liked reading my hubby’s interview. (HERE if you missed it)
I hinted on Instagram yesterday that I was thinking about framing some Italian cathedral prints that I had in my attic  and which came from a limited edition artwork calendar that my parents gave me a long time ago. I keep telling you that hoarding pays off and it really does. Believe me 😉
Here is some examples to show you what I’m talking about in case you don’t have Instagram which you totally should because it’s awesome.
And I did end up framing some of the prints to layer them with my different types of abstract art. I really like it.
I created some vignettes on my nightstands. I think it’s the perfect combo of old and new and I really enjoy it. The one in the back is the art I created and also showed you on Instagram, the second one is Minted (click HERE).
How to achieve the look for yourself?

- mix different metals: my lamps, flowerpots and containers
- mix old and new: antique phone, vintage cathedral prints and abstract art
- add some greenery
And in case you are wondering where the creepy clown sketch is coming from. It was a gift from my high school art teacher who happens to be my parents’ friend and neighbor. Thankfully my husband isn’t scared of clowns because it’s on his side of the bed 😉

Is layering different styles of artwork something you would do?
I really like it.

I LOVE how you styled it! I have some old prints as well that I want to frame. I’m all about stacking, it’s so fun! Beautiful as always!
Thank you! I have a feeling I will shuffle this around frequently 😉
Creepy clown print totally would not fly in my house but you totally make it work with the other pieces of art!
I tried to hide the clown as much as I can but oddly I’m attached to him in a strange way LOL
Anyone who gives you creepy clown sketches is no friend.
Haha cracking up over here. I guess some artists see that differently 😉
oh i love how they look! love the prints and especially in a grouping like you have!
Thank you
looks great! I love the contrast of the different styles of art (like, if you had ALL creepy clown art, I think that would be too much. good to mix it up ;))
Yup, too much of one “good” thing would be too much. I’m totally oddly attached to him but not that munch that I want him on my side of the bed 😉
Thank you!
The layering is fabulous! And I really really want your abstract art skills! Love everything about these vignettes!
Thank you my friend
This is such a pretty vignette Julia. I love the layered look. Awesome colors and artwork!!!
Thank you so much Katja. Missed you!
I love the look of this.
Thank you!
