A (little funny) story about our new mattress

Bare with me on this post my friends. Yes I was lucky to be selected to try out a new mattress in collaboration with GelFoamBed, that’s totally the case (and no it’s not a sponsored post).

Plus I do have to admit we were desperate for a new one for our daughter’s room. She has been sleeping on our old master bedroom mattress which we bought 18 years ago when we got married. Not even the foam topper could help it feel all that comfortable.

But we all know how pricey mattresses can be and how majorly annoying mattress stores and sales people can be (well minus one of my besties who used to work at one, I’m certainly not talking about you if you are reading).

I’m all ears when I hear foam because it is so comfortable as we learned with our king sized master bedroom memory foam mattress. And GelFoamBed has a variety of different options. I went with the medium plush mattress and there are no regrets.

 

After choosing the mattress it arrived 10 days later. Not having to go to several stores to check out mattresses was so great. And the price of these mattresses is so affordable.
The (not so) little one lined up all her dolls to watch the mattress unfolding-show. Daddy helping is usually a good show to watch and we all know it.

The new mattress comes in a box the way you can see in the next photo. I told my husband to help take the mattress out of the box while I was setting up the video camera and picture camera.  And I also asked him to look at the instructions that were attached to the outside of the plastic sheeting.
Why do men have selective hearing? Can you guess what happened?

That’s the last pic I took of him before I was setting up my camera because then everything went so fast and it’s most definitely not what you guys should do if you get one of these amazing GelFoam mattresses.

Because there is a reason the instructions say “do not use a knife”. This is besides the fact that you could cut the mattress.
And believe me when the instructions say it opens fast…it really does open fast and thankfully we had cleared everything before. It was more of a “poof” magic effect and we had the most amazing soft mattress. Certainly magical to the kids. It’s like a genie in a bottle (think cardboard box in this case). And we did have a good laugh.

There is the hubby trying to be all suave, so I can save my blog photo moments. But you can see how bendable the mattress is. It’s the perfect mixture between soft and firm.

Like I said, we have a memory foam mattress in the master bedroom and this GelFoam mattress feels just as amazing if not better. Super super comfy! But I was told it sleeps much cooler which will probably show to be true when it gets hot outside. I’m always sweating and would love to sleep cooler. I’m an air-conditioning addict. I’ll probably be sneaking into her room every night to sleep with her. I did before and now that she has this comfy mattress, I will fight for that spot next to her on the Queen mattress. Please tell me I’m not the only one who goes into her kid’s bedroom in the middle of the night because the husband snores.

 

And then the furry inspectors rolled in to check everything out:

I think the white inspector approves. She checked out every square inch after all.

 

This following long-haired inspector and also bedroom owner doesn’t want me to put sheets on because the mattress surface is so super snuggly.

That won’t happen though it still needs sheets even though I agree with her that the top is so much softer than a sheet.

So the moral of the story is to read your instructions well when you receive items. This would have been so fun to watch on video and my plan was to show it to you but it all failed.
