Beginning of our house tour
How was your weekend? For us it was soccer on Saturday, soccer on Sunday and our kids have off today, so my weekend is technically not over yet.
If you’ve been following me for a little while then you have seen some of the photos already. It’s a summary which will be under my “house tour tab”
Our house is always a work in progress. By now I’d like to change several rooms again!
One thing at a time.
Unfortunately I don’t have a photographer “friend” who can help me shoot the perfect pictures.
But this is a start for a house tour. (I know that you know some of the pictures already)
I took some new pictures of our daughter’s room. Hey, by the way she loves pink if you haven’t noticed! (here and here are some posts about her room)
I have been looking for a taller queen headboard for her but haven’t found one yet.
I’m still looking for a better light bulb option, but I love the chandelier! |
Our son’s room: He is a Lego and Star Wars fan. (Here is a post about his room)
Upstairs hallway (DIY light fixture):
Stairs (I’m dying to replace the wall sconces but haven’t found anything that I like):
My craft area in the basement. The photos could be better! It is so hard to take nice pictures in the basement. Any have any tips for that? I still have to take some more of the bar and TV area.
Our dining room:
I bought the glass table at an auction for $25 and the oil painting for $60. The chandelier is a replica of the very expensive Cellula Chandelier which I got for 80 Euros in Germany.
Our bedroom:
I painted 2 of these for our bedroom in 2008. |
Living room fireplace area:
I also bought the oil painting by the fireplace at an auction for $80. It is by the painter Jonas Gerard. I’m ready to start painting myself again. Maybe something really colorful!…People tell me all the time that I should place the Union Jack rug the other way, but there is an air vent on the floor which makes it impossible. I could stage it for the picture because nobody would ever know but I don’t feel like pretending. That’s just the way it is. |
Some pictures of the kitchen area:
I still need to take some more pictures of our living room (the new rug), bedroom, basement, kitchen and dining room. And hmmmm bathrooms…which I don’t really like at all. I’m thinking about completely overhauling our downstairs powder room this winter. Maybe a big reveal? Lets see.
To be continued!
So please stop back!
Talk to you soon.
AWESOME! I was wondering when you’ll get your house tour started!
Love it!
Thanks!
i love how fun and colorful your home is!
Thank you Cassie!
Wow, looks awesome! I I just love the pops of color, the yellow, the blue…and love your craft room!
Thank you! I never even noticed how much color I actually had until I put all the photos together!
Julia — love your style. Very eclectic, like mine. Wondering where you got your Union Jack rug? I like that it is subtle. Oh, btw, I found another broken Cuckoo Clock just yesterday…it’s huge, kind of an ugly brown…I painted my other “find” a shiny white; this one might go wild…like the one in your daughter’s room. I sprung for yesterday’s…it was $10 but for a charity sale. The other smaller one was only $4 at Goodwill…gotta love those bargains!
Hi and thanks 🙂
The Union Jack is from Zgallerie! It was hubby’s Christmas present last year. That’s when I splurge a little! He always laughs because other women want jewelry, I on the other hand want rugs, lamps, faucets…
I can’t believe how cheap you got those cuckoo clocks! That’s crazy! I’m so jealous! What a steal!
Beautifully! May I dwell in your home? 😉
LOL thanks Alicja!
Awesome, wonderful, amazing! I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again… You’ve got SKILLS girlie! : )
Thanks for sharing your great ideas.
Smiles!

LOL, thank you Sammy!
Hi Julia! I just recently came across your blog and I’m so glad I did. You’re house is chic and fun. I especially love your daughter’s room. So cute!
Thank you so much!
