How was your weekend? Ours was perfect because I got called off from work and got to spend the weekend at home. It was a warm weekend with rain but at least we could keep some windows open. All that free time on the weekend gave me the push I needed to show you what I’ve been up to in my daughter’s bedroom.

When I was searching for all the black and white curtains (click HERE if you missed the post), I mentioned that I found new curtains for my daughter. I personally would have loved black and white ones in her room too but she wanted some color and fell in love with an ombre pair I found on Amazon HERE. They are an unpopular length of 84 inches but since my daughter has a window cornice box, I can perfectly get away with having that length.
I built that cornice pre-blogging times when she was a baby. The reason for that wasn’t looks but that fact that I wanted her room to be completely dark for nap time. She used to wake up at the slightest sign of light which of course drove me nuts. When you just hang roller shades and curtains, a lot of light still escaped at the top, so this made sure the room was as dark as possible. I still double up all the curtains with blackout curtains and Ikea blackout roller shades. Her room is the best to sleep in now and also the reason my husband would sleep in on his nightshift days. We all love it and she hates that we all love crawling into her bed. LOL
She wanted us to get rid of a lot of the pink in her room because her favorite colors are now all blue tones and neon yellow. I told her I wasn’t going to include or find neon yellow for her room and if we could settle for a different yellow and she agreed. Which is why she now has a yellow bedspread (this one HERE).
She loves her room again and so do I. The new curtains look grayish blue in the photos but in person they are more of a blue-teal that really match her bed. I don’t know why they come across differently in the photos. It’s odd.
And I took some photos first without the rug because I was cleaning the floors.

Do you spy the little model in the photos? Taking blog photos has become a challenge with her around. She wants to be included in everything and even attacks the camera.

My daughter loves that Maya is happy in her room because non of the other cats are.
And just for reference, here is a photo of what her room looked like before with more pink in it which I loved so much.
A lot of the times my daughter’s bed looks the way it does in the next photo and she is making a mess with her slime obsession. She already got blue slime all over her new duvet. Yikes!
And that’s it for today. Thanks for the visit and have a great week.
