So I Married a Blogger

Today I’m participating in a blog hop in honor of Monday’s Valentine’s Day hosted by my friend Claire of Claire Brody Designs similar to this one HERE from last year. It was fun and a big hit so we wanted to do it again and interview our dear other halves.

Y’all know that we aren’t the biggest fans of Valentine’s Day in our house and I have expressed my dislike for it many times and often poke fun of it. Do you guys remember my post from 2013 where I used the below and now famous photo of my husband and his numerous odd hairstyles (click HERE to read). Here are some photos to refresh your memory:

The first “Hey Girl” is the ridiculous first Valentine’s Day card he ever gave me. It was painful. And he had no chocolate because his dog actually ate it, thankfully he didn’t die from it.

This next photo is of our second Valentine’s Day in 1998 which was the only time he really went all out. It was kinda to make up for the horrible card from the year before.

But that’s where the Romance ended because we went out to the bar with our friends instead of an intimate dinner:

Gosh we were babies. Well me more than him because he’s 5 years older than me. I was 22!
We’ve never really celebrated Valentine’s Day ever since.

So lets get to the hubby’s interview part and I feel like I need to chime in because he was a man of few words this time around. He complained that he did this last year already and didn’t understand why he had to do more answers this year. I told him to stop complaining and just answer my questions.

How involved are you with Julia’s blog?
Phil: Since she gets most of her ideas from me, I am usually highly involved.
Me: Can you please take these questions serious?

How often do you read the blog?  Are you an avid reader or do you see enough at home?
Phil: As the highly paid editor of Julia’s blog, I read just about all of her posts.
Me: Not true, you barely read anything in the past couple of weeks, or should I blame all the writing mistakes I made on you and say you did read it all?

How much time does Julia spend on her blog? What are her hours like?
Phil: The appropriate question would be, during which hours of the day does Julia not spend time on her blog?
Me: No comment 😉

 

Are you the cheap manual labor or is there hired help for that?  In other words, does Julia use you for your handy work?
Phil: Yes, I am cheap and for hire.
Me: Since when? Can I rent you out on the side? But you are cheap, that’s true and I don’t mean that in a good way 😉

Describe Julia’s style
Phil: Basically Julia’s style is a direct testament to her husband’s skills and handy work ability.
Me: Yeah sure!

Describe your style.
Phil: You see my style each and every week on the blog, I just don’t like to take away any of Julia’s credit.
Me: I told you to please take the questions serious!!!!

How often does your home change?
Phil: LOL, good question! Daily?
Me: Again no comment 😉

How many different sofas have you had since marrying Julia?
Phil: I think 3 in 18 years which isn’t a lot.
Me: Hmmmm that’s true

How often do you offer decorating advice? Does she consider your opinion?
Him:  Quite often, I am usually at my best with color schemes.
Me: Ugh stop it!

What’s your favorite room in the house? Why?
Phil: Man cave, for comfort and there’s a beer tap. I think that was my answer last year too but thankfully lots has changed since then and it’s gotten so much better.

What does it really look like behind the camera?
Phil: Depends on time of day and the last time other kids were invited over to play. Didn’t you just share a photo of the mess last week? See I do read your blog! But most importantly it’s so much cleaner when I’m home because I’m such a big cleaning help.
Me: Haha good one dear!

What is a project that you hate but have never voiced (or maybe you have)?
Phil: Painting ceilings, lifting furniture around and removing staples from upholstery.
Me: I don’t think you understood the question. This isn’t about what you hate doing, it’s about which of my projects you hate.
Phil: Oh! Well I don’t hate anything, except maybe the insulated cat box for the stray cats when I didn’t want you to adopt more cats.

Do you know of Julia’s blogger friends?  If so, who’s your favorite?
Phil: Unfortunately I do not know any personally, but I’ve heard a lot of negative things about all of them.
Me: That’s great! What are you talking about? Stop talking nonsense.

What’s your favorite aspect of Julia being a blogger?  Least favorite?
Phil: She loves what she does and it comes easy to her. Least favorite is definitely tax season.
Me: AMEN to that. We agree at last.

What are your household chores?
Phil: Cooking, laundry, baking. Whatever needs to get done.
Me: What ever needs to get done? I’ll hold you to that, sounds good to me.

What’s something about Julia that her readers might not know (but she would be okay with you sharing)?
Phil: She can burp Jingle Bells
Me: I don’t know about Jingle Bells but I sure can burp a tune.

What does Julia REALLY want for Valentine’s Day, and what are you getting her?
Phil: A diamond heart shaped pendant or anything shmoopy she loves. Marzipan and some cheap roses from Produce Junction.
Me: Haha don’t believe anything he says. I’ve never asked for any expensive piece of jewelry ever. I’d rather buy house stuff. But I’ll take the marzipan and roses.

*disclosure: his name isn’t Phil, we just call him that because he reminds us of Phil Dunphy from Modern Family.

Oh and we’ll be married for 18 freakin years in May. I actually can’t really believe it.
