Happy Friday everyone and I’m back with a pet post. I’m super excited to share Laura and Tilly of Laura Dro Designs with you today. She’s a super talented and sweet artist and I can’t wait for you guys to read her story. I’ve met her because I won one of her amazing art giveaways. Do you maybe remember?

Hi everyone! I was super excited when Julia asked me to share my story about my one and only fur baby. If we haven’t met, I’m Laura Dro, an artist and textile designer.

I’ve been professionally creating artwork and patterns for various companies for five years now and I’ve had one loyal employee….Tilly! She’s a Miniature Schnauzer and Chihuahua mix and almost 6, we think. My husband and I adopted her on a whim when we were living in downtown Chicago. We happen to go down to Michigan Avenue to do some shopping and they were having an Adopt a Pet festival and I just couldn’t pass up her cute face!! When I adopted her in the Louis Vuitton store, I knew she was something special!

Fast forward a month, we took Tilly to a dog park to meet other dogs and it didn’t go so well. She was brutally attacked by another dog, (I think the other dog thought she was a toy?) She was in the hospital for a week, had major brain swelling and the vet said she wouldn’t make it. But, every time we visited, she tried so hard to snuggle and lick our face. We took her home after a week, not knowing if she would be able to walk or see again, still not out of the woods. With the help of friends and me being at home to work with her, we taught her to walk again and slowly her eye sight returned. She is the sweetest, caring and loyal dog I’ve ever known.

I think she remembers the attack and appreciates the love we gave, so in return she loves on us day in and day out.

With our 15 month old all over Tilly, some people would worry, but she loves the attention and is always gentle with Hartley.

Tilly is a huge part of our family. We call her the oldest puppy ever because she still has the most playful spirit. Along with her natural mohawk, she is just too precious for words.

Working at home isn’t the same without her in my lap or snuggled up in her bed in my studio. I hope she knows how much we love her and how important she is to us!!

Isn’t it such a sweet story? I’m so so glad Tilly has such an amazing mommy who gave her all the love she had to make her strong again. Am I right? Look at that adorable face of hers, how could you not?
