Living Pretty With Your Pets: Only Deco Love
I have a very special treat for you today and I have been really anticipating getting the photos and sharing them with you today. I’m not even sure how I came across Katerina and her gorgeous blog Only Deco Love but I do know that I was completely blown away. She never posts a bad photo and everything she puts together is impeccable and beautiful. Her photos are serene and a feast to the eye. And on top of everything she shares my love for cats.
Hello! My name is Katerina and I am an architect and the creator of the blog called Only Deco Love where I blog about interior design with mostly original content from my own home. Since I am also a food lover you will also occasionally find few of my favorite recipes as well! I love animals and I was fortunate to grow up spending whole summers at my grandparents farm where I was given the responsibility to care for one every season. I remember my surprise when I named a little chick April only to turn out to be a rooster who hence forth was known as April. Cats have always had a special place in my heart however and I was happy we always had cats at my parents house in Greece. When I moved to Norway about a year ago to live with my boyfriend we decided to adopt a baby kitten since we both love cats to an enormous degree. We saw some photos of baby Milo and were told she was a male only to discover after seeing her that in fact she was female. We didn’t change her name (funny how this seems to be a sweet pattern for me) and that’s how Milo landed in our lives!
Milo at 4 weeks old Milo was the sweetest kitten I have ever seen. Cuddly playful and fearless. When we got her barely at 4 to 5 weeks old (there were serious problems in the house she was born and she had to be removed immediately) she didn’t made a sound in the ride home while spending her time playing with my scarf. To this day she loves riding the car with us. She was too little to eat food so we had to feed her with an ear dropper bottle which she would massage while drinking like her mommy. After she was lastly fed at night she would sleep in my scarf on a pillow all night long with us like a human would. I have always found that incredible.
Milo at 8 weeks old
Milo grew up to be as normal as any kitten would. She is social and extremely friendly with people as with other cats as well. There are some oddities about her that we find amusing however. She loves following us around like a puppy when we are out walking even when we walk for 5km or more. She runs in front of us excitedly and warbles loudly when she wants our attention. Then there is the water fascination. One of her favorite places to sit is in the sink and while the water is running she will literally stay under and roll over while trying to catch the stream. It goes without saying she also adores the snow so more often than not when it’s snowing she will storm impatiently outside. We are lucky to live in an area where the streets aren’t busy at all and people absolutely love animals. If Milo is gone for more than few hours I can be sure she is in one of our neighbors homes eating and sleeping. They always let her out though after a while or when she wants and she always returns late afternoon the latest. I find it funny that she has her own curfew.
Milo at 6 months old
Milo is about 10 months old today and she is already a proud mom of 7 little adorable kittens. When we called the vet for her spraying we were told we had to wait until she was 6 months old. On the 6 month mark while at the vets office we discovered she was already pregnant and didn’t want to go through with her surgery. 2 months later she delivered 7 tiny adorable kittens.

Zoey at 3 weeks old
I managed to take some photos when they were less than 24 hours old and looking at them now I am stunned at how much these little creatures change in a few weeks!

We were very lucky to find loving homes for all of them but this time we were adamant we would keep them at least for 8 weeks before we even consider giving them away. While Milo turned out to be more than fine I wanted to give the little baby kittens as much time with their mom as possible to learn from her and develop. Milo also turned out to be a perfect mommy. She raised all 7 of them to be healthy and chubby and as playful as her. We heard horror stories about how when young kittens have too many babies for the first time they might not raise all of them equally or even leave some of them to die. Not Milo. She was fiercely protective of all of them constantly by their side even though she was trusty enough to give birth in our bedroom and let them grow in our soft hamper for clothes by the heating stove. We were in for a big surprise when we woke up with all 7 of them sleeping in between us one day when they were about 4 weeks old and could climb the bed on their own.

We are completely in love with this little creature and we were more than happy when she gave birth to all her babies. One of the hardest things I had to do was give the first ones away a week ago and even though we are being sent photos and we know they are loved and cared for immensely I still cry when I think I will never see them again. We are giving them away gradually so Milo will have time to adjust but I never imagined that I would need time to adjust as well. I have grown extremely attached to every single one of them and their unique individual characters. I wish I could keep all of them or even one but unfortunately it was not an option at this point. I do hope that in the future we will be able to adopt more! This was a glimpse in my life with Milo, I hope you enjoyed reading about it although I can get very prolific with my descriptions! I blog almost daily when I’m at home but right now I am visiting Greece and my parents I can’t blog as much! You can find me on my Instagram @onlydecolove for daily updates!
Thank you Julia for having us, I don’t often get to feature Milo in my blog so this was a great opportunity for me to get her story out there!
Love, Katerina
