Living Pretty With Your Pets: Sarah M. Dorsey Designs
Ready for another Pet Friday? This time on Valentines Day? I’m totally ignoring it though because I just don’t care for it. There I said it 😉
Here is a little fact about me. I have a special spot in my heart for scruffy terrier mixed breed puppies. That’s what I grew up with and I adore their mischievous personalities. Growing up my Schnauzer mix family members were so dear to my heart. So today’s guest and her scruffy and adorable little family member make me think of my four legged family members that have passed away. And I really really want another dog just like it.
Today I have Sarah M. Dorsey talking about her adorable Annabelle. I love Sarah’s style and she has some of the most amazing DIYs in blogland. I’m sure you have seen her projects already since she won “Creating with the Stars” last year. Â That DIY chandelier really made my jaw hit the floor. CRAZY good, don’t you agree? Or check out this DIY mirror made from an old brass chandelier.
Hi Cuckoo 4 Design friends! I’m Sarah and I blog at Sarah M. Dorsey Designs. I’m so excited to share a little about our sweet Annabelle here today. Thanks so much to Julia for letting me guest post today!
Here’s a little bit about Annabelle.
David and I were casually browsing on Petfinder for a dog and after we saw the above photos we were sold! How could you say no to this face?? We contacted her foster mom and arranged to meet her a few days later at an adoption event. It was love at first sight!
3 years later (moving twice and living in three states (TN, CA, and OH) we couldn’t imagine our family without her!
Here’s Annabelle’s story – she was dropped on the side of the road at 4 weeks old with her brother and was thankfully picked up by a good samaritan and brought to Almost Home – a foster organization that takes pets from shelters and places them in foster homes while waiting for their forever homes.
just after we adopted annabelle – her foster mom said that she loved her crate, we got her one right away and she LOVED it!! I think only puppies can sleep like this 🙂 |

Annabelle saying “I wanna play!!!” |
Her brother was adopted at 8 weeks and we adopted Annabelle at 10 weeks. We are still in contact with her foster mom through email and photo updates!
Adopting through Almost Home was such a great experience for us – everyone was so great to work with and you can tell that they truly care about the animals.

Annabelle loves life, she is the happiest dog I know (I challenge anyone to find a happier dog :), and she puts a smile on our faces every day.
We aren’t sure of her exact mix, but we think Beagle, long hair Jack Russell Terrier. Or as I like to say, Jack Reagle.
I’m definitely not opposed to responsible breeding, but we had such a great experience adopting, I’d do it again and again! There are so many great pets waiting for their forever home, if you’re looking to add to your family, check out Petfinder and if you are in East Tennessee, take a look at Almost Home!

And if you’re looking for a DIY pet project, check out my round, adjustable pet bed. I have a couple floating around the house that I throw on the sofa or in the car. Annabelle loves having a place that she knows is hers!
Thanks so much to Julia for having me today!! I love sharing about my sweet girl!! 🙂
Update: Since this post Annabelle got a little sister called Charlotte.

so, so cute! I wouldn’t have been able to pass on that face either.
My two little dogs are a wire haired Jack Russell and a beagle, so Annabelle sounds like pretty much the perfect combination to me :). So cute!
Omg I LOOOVE this story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us Julia. What a lucky dog Anabelle is to have Sarah as a mom. You can tell she is loved. She’s so cute!
Oh Annabelle is so gorgeous. What a lucky family. I have a few cuties too. Well maybe more than a few, but I love them all and they all sleep with me… (I have a little space at the edge of the Q bed).
She is so sweet…I love dogs, we have a yellow lab and I’d love to get another dog when it gets to be warmer weather. Love this series, followed you on Pinterest!
That dog is too cute. I have a soft spot for that wirey hair too!
OH how cute are these photos!
Love your pet friday!;)
Wow again to this featured post… the Sarah Family Pup Bed…… it is fabulous!!! I plan to copy it only in a rectangle for the top of my entertainment center….. the kitty kats love to reign supreme on the top…. but I don’t have the money for foam any longer………. so shredded panty hose or what not will work for me. Thanks ever so much to Sarah, Annabelle and Family…. ya know the guy, her husband.
She is so sweet!
I am LOVING this series Julia! What a sweetheart Sarah!!! 😀
