I can’t believe that we’ve been in Germany for 2 weeks already. I know it’s getting old but time sure flies. I hate it!
We’ve been spending long days at the pool which the kids love because it’s a clean, new, big and fun one. Have you seen my Instagram pictures of it? (click HERE to see and follow)
The weather is supposed to get a little cooler today so we’ll start sightseeing a little more again.
One thing that has made me super worried is my old (17 year old) Manx Heidi at home. She has been giving my hubby some problems. I think she is really upset that I’m gone which is making me so sad, but he is taking her to the vet today to make sure that she isn’t sick. I’m so hoping that she’ll be fine.
Today I thought I’d share more of my parents home. I showed you their vintage plate collection (click HERE if you missed it) last Friday and I just wanted to show you some more. I won’t write much but show you lots of photos, ok?
Are you ready? It certainly is a different style and very eclectic:
|My parents always had this built-in library wall and I nagged my dad for years because I wanted to paint it white. It does look nice in brown though too, doesn’t it?|
|The foo dogs usually stand somewhere else but I placed them on the stone mantle
because I like the contrast. They were also my grandmother’s and I love them.
|The mantle is made by “Richard Le Droff“.|
|The view over town from their living room.|
|I’m so in love with my mom’s antique campaign dresser. It’s a little beat up but I want it!|
|This is a 250 year old Eifler milk closet and I think it’s amazing.|
|My dad always has a fully stocked bar cart. I’d love to polish the brass a little 😉|
|More of my grandmother’s antiques.|
|This is the inkwell and feather pen that my great-grandmother and great-grandfather signed their wedding papers with. Isn’t that cool? I have no clue how she was able to save so many things during the war in which they lost their home.|
|My great-grandfather Robert Kaufmann
(you can find him mentioned on wikipedia HERE)
|My dad, yes, we have a thing
for caricatures 🙂
So this is where I used to live and how I grew up. I hope you enjoyed the little tour and the pictures didn’t take too long to load.
I’m planning on showing you some snow white castle pictures on Friday.
