Living Pretty with Your Pets: Place Of My Taste
Ok pet lovers, I got another awesome blogger and her sweet kitty cat for you. I was lucky enough to hang out with Aniko from Place Of My Taste in person last summer at Haven. We didn’t have much time to hang out at the conference but we were able to chat while we were waiting at the airport. She is also not from this country just like me and originally from Hungary. I love browsing Aniko’s photos, she is super talented not only when it comes to DIY, so you have to check out her photography by clicking HERE but you will also be able to tell in the following gorgeous photos.
Hello Cuckoo 4 Design readers. I am Aniko and I blog over at Place Of My Taste. I am wife to a great hubby, mom for two incredibly handsome boys and to this gorgeous girl, Mici. I love to decorate, DIY, craft, cook and I heart photography.
I am happy to be here to share Mici’s story with you today.
Mici is an 11 years old, gorgeous tabby cat who got into our family when she was 6 weeks old. She was this tiny little cuteness when I picked her up at a close by business place. She needed a home and I just could not say no to her.
Could you leave her behind? She was so adorable♥
I did not have kids when I got her but I pampered her like a real baby:-) She was my first child-LOL
Mici was a very playful kitty and she quickly found herself a “best friend” right after she got to our family. We had this stuffed animal, a “blue bunny” that was about 3 times bigger than her at that time and she carried, pulled, pushed that stuffed animal literally everywhere. After 11 years we still have that bunny and that bunny is still her best friend:-) She sleeps with her and she cares for her as a mother.
Mici is a beautiful sweet girl and I am very thankful that she is still with us as we were very close to lose her. The story goes back to 2007- some of you may even remember- when a pet food company had recalled thousands of contaminated pet food that caused renal failure – also known as acute kidney failure for cats and dogs. There were several thousands of cats and dogs who died, unfortunately.
One day we noticed that Mici had not been eating for a couple days and we took her to an animal clinic to check her out. The doctor sent us to the emergency room right away as her blood work was incredibly bad. She was hospitalized for a week long and after her hospitalization we had to continue her intravenous treatment at home for several months so her kidney could function again. I could not deal with needles, so my hero hubby was the one who handled putting the IV fluids in Mici every day, twice a day for months.
It was a rough few months. It really was…
…but there was a miracle..
Slowly but Mici has completely recovered. Her doctor still thinks that her case is one in a million.
Her doctor said that she might live a shorter life compare to other cats, but so far she seems to be doing so well and I am so thankful for that.
She is such a pretty girl, isn’t she?
Her beautiful stripes are flawless…awhh…my Mici:-)
You would not tell by looking at her, but she is one of a kind.
Strangers beware at my house!!:-) She seems to have problems with every stranger. She talks (hisses) to everyone who comes and visit us. I guess it’s just her personality and we had to learn how to handle her when others are around.
Mici loves to take long naps and she enjoys sun bathing all the time. She is a girl-ha!
She also loves to play. She is so good with my children and my kiddos love chasing her and make her do funny things.
Hope to have Mici with us for much longer, she is a lovely heart and part of us.
Thank you for reading Mici’s story and Thank you for sharing your space with me today, Julia!

Mici’s serious look in the first picture cracks me up. She looks like she is furrowing her brows, isn’t she? Love it and I’m glad that Aniko and her husband were able to get her healthy again. What a miracle!
Aren’t her photos gorgeous?

Thank you for the wonderful pet series, Julia!
OMG Aniko, I’m so happy for you that sweet Mici survived. I know how you must have felt. Last year I was afraid of losing one of our cats but fortunately our Barney recovered as well.. It’s so sweet that Mici holds on to her bunny friend. Your pictures are beautiful.
Have a great weekend!
Julia
Hi Julia 🙂 I thought it was adorable too that she loves her bunny so much. I have heard of cats doing this but mine only carry their cat nip mouse around.
Thanks of the comment and visit and enjoy your weekend.
Mici is lovely, what a great story. She’s such a survivor. Happy to hear she made it through. Thank you for sharing the other pretty posts. I have to add the reclaimed wood to my reading list. I love how that piece turned out. Have a great weekend.

Haha, me too.
Such a pretty kitty! She looks a lot like my baby, Frank.
Love the name, my dad’s name is Frank too.
She’s beautiful, Aniko and I love that she mothers her stuffed bunny! Those green eyes look exactly like our tabby, Mikko. 🙂
Mici and Mikko that has a ring to it. I love the stuffed bunny too
Miki is just beautiful and how sweet she is with her blue bunny. What a miracle that she survived that scary pet recall. Thank you for sharing your sweet girl with us Aniko. One of my kitties is named Aniko. On another note that photo is beautiful of the waffles and is making me hungry. Happy weekend Julia!
Yes, those waffles look dangerously good.
And I’m glad that she is healthy again too. Kidney failure is so scary.
Have a great weekend Allison.
Oh my goodness. My eyes teared up reading about Mici’s hospital stay. Makes me so thankful our kitty’s hospitalization experience wasn’t so serious. Such a beautiful fur baby! And loving those projects!
I know right? Maybe you want to share your kitty story one day too Corinna? Have a great weekend.
