Living Pretty With Your Pets: Burlap and Lace
Hi animal lovers! I know it’s only you who stick around for this series that is so dear to my heart 😉
Today I have one stylish and gorgeous blogger showing off her little ones. Shannon from Burlap and Lace (now Shannon Claire Interiors) is with us today. She’s got such great style and it’s totally right down my alley.
Look at her guest bath that she just revealed and I love her office that she did for the “One Room Challenge”. Check it out! She recently moved, so I’m sure there will be lots of great makeovers to come.
Hi Cuckoo for Design readers! I’m so happy to be here today to share photos of my fur babies. I have loved reading this series, and am thrilled to be a part of it! We have three animals- one Pomeranian and two cats. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love taking photos of my babies. But since this is a special circumstance, I whipped out the real camera and took some photos to share!
First up, our five-year-old Pomeranian, Max. A friend of a friend brought him to the restaurant where I worked when he was a puppy. I fell in love and immediately began searching for one of my own. A few weeks later, my friend said that her friend couldn’t keep the dog because she was moving, and would I possibly want him? Well, five years later, here he is! He loves to pose like a little furry dog model.
He’s about to get shaved short for the summer, but we always leave his head and tail fluffy (like a lion)!
He really really loves the camera. I tried to take a photo of our cat, and he promptly sat in the foreground and smiled.
He’s pretty easy to live with, but since this series is called “Living Pretty with your Pets”, I will say that he loves to sit on the back of the couch cushions, completely smushing them in the process (he does this to the pillows, too). There is not a day that goes by where I don’t take the back cushions off the couch to fluff them. I think it’s time for a tight back couch! But I can’t stay mad long, I mean…look at that face. #poser
Even though I LOVE Max, I am a true cat lady at heart. Like, cat obsessed (that’s why I like Julia so much) 🙂 I have two cats, but I would have several more if I didn’t live in a one bedroom apartment and if my husband wouldn’t kill me. Our first cat’s name is Scout, after my favorite childhood literary character from To Kill a Mockingbird. But, we don’t call her that. We started calling her Miss Kitty, and then that evolved to Kitty, and then Kitters, and eventually Titters (I have no idea how we made that leap). She’s the O.G., because we got her first, right after we got married. She’s a tortie (like Julia’s!), and she’s SUCH a diva.
Her main hobby is eating flowers and/or plants.
Or, really just eating in general.
And then there’s our second cat. His real name is F. Cat Fitzgerald (I’ve always used literary references to name my cats, ever since I was little), but of course we don’t call him that. Since we have Titters up there, we’ve nicknamed him Fritters. Titters and Fritters. You should see the faces I get when I take them to the vet.
Fritters was born and raised in a parking lot (true story), and is basically a wild animal. We rescued him two years ago because I just could not say no to his face. There is not a week that goes by where he doesn’t break something, run into a wall, or leave a pile of hair in the outline of his body somewhere. But…that face. He sleeps 23 hours a day, so he has a lot of energy to expel in that lone waking hour. 😉
Speaking of that face, Fritters has a mean resting b*tch face. He looks so grumpy, all. the. time. I found this gem when I was putting this post together:
We recently moved a few states away, and the cats are just now getting over the seven hour car ride. You would have thought that we were taking them to a field somewhere to drop them off. Titters broke out of her cage and climbed in with Fritters for the majority of the trip.
Max, on the other hand, made a comfy bed (next to his real bed) on a package of water bottles.
So that’s it! My three adorable but sometimes destructive animals. You can follow my blog or instagram where I will most definitely post too many more photos of  these guys! Thank you so much for having me, Julia!
